Mir not impressed by Cormier

source: mmajunkie.com

"He can go out there like his last fight and fight somebody that's subpar," Mir on Monday told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). "The only problem is that you have to go out there and really be devastating to get any kind of positive criticism."

Cormier (11-0 MMA, 8-0 SF) got plenty of positive feedback following "Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine," but mostly for his callout of Mir (16-6 MMA, 14-6 UFC), whom he was scheduled to fight this past fall before injuries intervened.

Mir was dismissive of the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix champ's second-round TKO over the little-known Dion Staring in the co-main event of this past Saturday's show at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.

"He's in a situation right now where I don't think many people were even moved by his fight," Mir said. "I think the most impressive thing he did in the whole fight was calling me out."

This. I remember when people said the SAME thing before Mir fought the SMALL heavyweight with ZERO wrestling, Ian Freeman. Frank went for leglock after leglock while Freeman put Mir through the strawberry patch.  Difference here is Mir will have an Olympic Wrestler with KO power in his hands. Last two wrestlers Mir fought, he got destroyed.

Well CC's issue with fighting in the UFC have more to do with the difference between fighting in a cage and fighting in a ring.

When is the last time Mir pulled off a submission off his back? And you think he is going to all of a sudden pull it off against an olympic wrestler? Frank Mir couldn't submit Wes Sims. C'mon son.
