Carmouche: I'll show Rousey can't armbar me

"I honestly don't think Rousey has what it takes to beat me. The only person that can defeat me is myself. Everybody asks, ‘Yeah, how do you not get arm barred?' You just don't get arm barred. You haven't seen anyone be able to counter is yet so you know if she's going to put those hands on you you're flipped over, you're on your back and that's the end of it. Practice makes perfect, we're just not getting arm barred, we're doing arm-bar defense, attacks, counters. It's just a matter of having enough practice. I'd definitely prefer to take this to the ground, show her that she can't armbar me.

I do think that everybody's afraid of Rousey, that's definitely one of those things that's kind of hindered people. I'm not scared. That first round is the most important part of the fight, if I can get through that it will definitely be a defeat in her eyes. This isn't going to be as easy for her as it was in the past, and that's probably the biggest hurdle for her...A lot of people say I'm just an easy person to armbar, and I'm OK with that, I'm just looking forward to proving everybody wrong."

Yea I hear ya. I think my brain says she'll go for the quick armbar but my heart hopes that she uses more than just her armbar. I have a hard time believing that she's not great with other submissions. But like you said, thats what shes comfortable with and who am I to suggest she change it up and risk everything to satisfy my urge to see more variety in her ass kickings.

Well, the armbar is her signature technique, and presumably the one she puts the most work into, drilling a higher quantity of entry positions into such than other moves, and to date there is no reason for her to change that.So my answer is no based on the fact that there are so many more positions where Ronda is most comfortable and proficient setting up an armbar. edit: I mean sure she "might" go for something else, but the odds are she won't.

Psychologically speaking, if you constantly worry about something, you will end up in that situation, yet its how you handle it. I believe that eventually a stronger fighter will be able to escape those armbars and maintain top control. Stand up is the best chance, yet luckily for Rousey, not many women possess KO power so she can take shots to intiate the clinch. Its a pretty good deal she has.Though eventually everyone falls, and upsets happen. Testing Rousey's cardio might be a way aswell. Alot of unanswered questions about Rousey's game, but in time they will be answered

Anyone else think Ronda might go for something besides an armbar? I keep having this feeling like shes going to go for a kimura...maybe a triangle. I dunno, purely a gut feeling, which has been wrong on many occasions. Anyways, I havent seen Carmouche fight that I can remember. Can someone give me a little rundown of her strengths/weaknesses?

Looks like she is pulling a Sonnen with her mouth eh? She'll be thinking Rousey can't arm bar her until it happens.

For Liz's part, her only chance is if Rousey "can't armbar her", so what mentality do you expect her to go in with? Surely you cerebral warriors have a perspective with a higher probability of success in mind?
