Overeem testosterone levels below normal

A blood test administered to heavyweight Alistair Overeem following his third-round knockout loss to Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva at UFC 156 earlier this month has come back clean, and with testosterone levels below the normal testing range.

MMAjunkie.com on Tuesday requested and received the test results from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which oversaw the Feb. 2 fight.

But with his blood test form his UFC 156 fight, his testosterone total level actually fell below the normal range of 250-1,100 nano grams per deciliter (ng/dL). Overeem's total testosterone came in at 179 from the test, which was administered the morning after the fight at 8:25 a.m. on Feb. 3.

Not only that, but concussions/TBI can acutely lower your testosterone for a couple of months. Testing after a fight just seems like a daft idea. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16114279http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16452539

Everybody's personal opinion colors their remarks fightharder... Mine does and yours does."he did not lose against SIlva because his striking game was less accomplished."He lost because he wasn't smart enough to keep his hands up. But yes, his "striking game" is certainly more accomplished than Bigfoot's, if you're not talking about MMA. Which is like saying James Toney is the best striker to ever fight in MMA.In order to pretend that Overeem is a top-level MMA fighter, people are forced to say "well, he was good in kick-boxing". That's what I said in the comment you were responding to. And your one substantive bit of real argument was to explain to me that Overeem beat Badr Hari... Something he never would have had a chance to do without being the biggest cheater in the sport. If you need a K-1 fighter to romanticize like Joe Rogan, I'd suggest you go with Spong. If they fought in the UFC, Spong would win even if Alistair had 50lbs on him. Spong has a MUCH better MMA game.
