Complete TUF 17, episode 7 fight recap

TEAM JONES' Clint Hester (7-3) VS. TEAM SONNEN'S Jimmy Quinlan (3-0)

Round 1 - Without much surprise, Jimmy shoots on Clint right away. Clint sprawls out of it initially, but Jimmy keeps after it, wraps his opponent up and 15 seconds in, he carries him to the center of the cage for a takedown into side control. After 30 seconds, Clint works his way out and back to his feet. When Jimmy wants him back down, Clint lands some elbows. The fight goes back to the canvas along the fence with Jimmy keeping Clint wrapped up before picking him up with another slam. Clint tries to land short shots before getting up again trying to break Jimmy's grip. Clint goes after a guillotine, but it's not secure. He lands a pair of knees, then with Jimmy's back on the fence he lands one more, followed by a short flurry that has Jimmy covering up and shooting for a defensive takedown midway through. Jimmy keeps working on the takedown, but he's eating a lot of punches from Clint in the process. But finally he gets him down to a good position with 90 seconds left, and when Clint again works back to his feet, Jimmy again slams him. It's been the takedowns scoring points for Jimmy, and certainly not any damage – the one scoring the points with the hands was Clint, and that makes it a close round to score, but one that should go to Jimmy for the takedowns and the Octagon control.

Round 2 - This time, it's Clint shooting early, and Jimmy steps to the side and goes after a guillotine. He can't secure it, and back on the feet Clint ties things up. As the fight again goes to the ground thanks to Jimmy, he nearly takes Clint's back, but uses it to move around and get to full mount with little difficulty. Clint tries to get out from underneath, but has to give up back mount, and finally we see Jimmy go to work with some ground-and-pound. He's got a great position and he's got a ton of time left. He lands a few punches that Jones doesn't believe are hurting Clint, but in short order Jimmy gets the perfect opportunity to latch on a rear-naked choke. He gets it, sinks it in and Clint is quickly tapping about 1:44 into the round.

Yes get him a green! You fought a smart tactical fight Jimmy. Got him tired in the 1st and worked to finish in the 2nd. Good job!

panic686- you're right he seems one dimentional in this fight but that's why he has the better coach. Chael will tech him what he did wrong (ex. take way too many blows to the head lol) he didn't ground and pound because he didn't want to hurt Clint which was fuckin stupid of him.He wont go any farther if he fights like that again and he'll be told that. I don't think he'll win it all either, Luke could be the silent giant. we haven't seen him at his best yet. Obvious who the favorite is but one mistake is costly... theres good fighters there and it's as much mental as it is physical

Based on what? We don't really see much coaching for either team.

Took him forever since he had Clint down so many times. I was surprised with his wrestling pedigree had so much trouble with Clint.

Isn't the wildcard spot decided between Jones, Sonnen and dfw?

I think you're 100% correct! this moron figured he should have been putting the fight together right from day 1 even before JJ said anything. he talks way too much and needs a mouth full of mit to fill it up.Bubba isn't much different and he's out!! wonder why?? freakin dumass is why, he's over rated, he barely won his way in the house let alone trying to call peole out.I'm happy Jimmy won last night but his head sure took a beating. He better hope he doesn't fight too soon. I think he didn't want to hurt Clint out of respect, and he didn't want to exhurt too much for his next fight.I think Clint is the one deserving of the wild card right now not Bubba (too bad for JJ and I hope he doesn't get to pick his own wild card)As for Uriah, he's an emotional guy and seems 2 faced but there's stress involved and too many guys in one place too close. He's taking this fuckin seriously and I hope his emotions don't interfear in his mind set cuz tha will bring him downJosh Suckhole Samman will get KO'd next fight lol

i was wondering about the wild card, i hope they dont give the coaches freedom of choice, of Jones will pick his buddy Bubba for sure, who trains with him at Jackson's, even though he's probably the fighter that looked worse in Jones' team.(also he's kind of a douche).
