Overeem out with quad injury, JDS fight likely in Summer, Hunt declines?

With Alistair Overeem injured with a projected five week recovery, and out of his fight with Junior Dos Santos at UFC 160, many in the hardcore fanbase clamored, again, for Mark Hunt to get a title shot. Again, it looks like it is not going to happen.

A fan reached out to UFC president Dana White via Twitter and asked for Hunt vs. JDS.

“Not lookin good," tweeted White. "Cigano vs Overeem in the summer.”

When pressed later, White related that Hunt had in fact turned down the fight.

"Mark Hunt turned down the fight with JDS as of last night," said White, who added "so STFU when u don't know what ur talkin about."

However, Hunt responded on Twitter that he had done no such thing.

"I have never turned down a fight and even wen I was injured I had to force myself not to fight," Tweeted Hunt. "Your general fears no man but the almighty."

White later tweeted "Mark Hunt and I just got off the phone and had a GREAT conversation!!" Exactly what the miscommunication or misunderstanding is will likely be determined in the next couple of days.

Overeem offered details on the injury, also via Twitter.

“Injured! Caught a slightly tear in my quad muscle," tweeted Overeem. "So unfortunately out of may 25 UFC. Not happy to let you guys ‘the fans’ down!”

Hunt doesn't have a very good chance against JDS. I'm sorry. I'm a big fan, but, it's reality. IMO this sounds like semantics. Maybe the UFC and Hunt's management couldn't come to terms on something.Hunt would smoke Overeem.

Question? How is a torn quad generally diagnosed? He didn't go get a CT scan did he? Would a torn quad even show up?The way they diagnose it is that Overeem says "ouch ouch I tore my quad in training", and the doctor says "okay".

Uncle Dana, we need some clarification here. I live near Mr Hunt, would you like me to ask him on your behalf?

I have a feeling JDS wont be underestimating anyone from now on. He went into the Cain fight with his mind on Overeem, he assumed he would just knock Cain out and only had to worry about takedowns. What happened? He dropped his hands and got smashed with a hard right. So yeah, I doubt he would underestimate anyone let alone Hunt. He would go in there and pick Hunt apart.

My thoughts exactly, Cain is a bad match up for hunt, too much cardio, too great at wrestling.JDS, however, he'll trade with Hunt, and that favours Hunt IMO.

Hunto will take JDS, I predict Junior's first KO loss.I just think JDS has so much faith in his striking, that he'll underestimate Hunt's.
