Davis: Wrestling a stronger art form than jiu-jitsu

"Vinny's jiu-jitsu doesn't concern me at all because he's bound by the laws of jiu-jitsu. I love jiu-jitsu. Jiu-jitsu is cool. It's fun. But some of the rules in jiu-jitsu, I break. I do the exact wrong thing, and it works for me because I follow the rules of wrestling, and with wrestling, it's a little bit stronger of an art form."

At the end of the day everyone cross trains. If Phil didnt have ANY BJJ training I see Vinny taking this once it hits the ground. But even with Phils "lower level" BJJ mixed with his Wrestling will be a nightmare for Vinny.

These arguments are stupid because it all depends on who the wrestler is and who the bjj guy is.It also depends on the rules of the match, time limits etc.Comparing art to art is like comparing apples to oranges...There are far to many variables to consider.A single martial art is only as good as what it was designed to do and the skill level of the person doing it.No single martial art has the answer to everything.

Not that Mr BJJ isnt going to get pinned pretty easily as well, but losing decisively is losing decisively.

I have doubts, he would get submitted easily.

I'll put it like this. Hed do better in bjj against. A person whose done bjj for 12 years then the other guy if the same two men competed in folk style wrestling.

Well, 12 years of competing, is 12 years, and in Pa They take wrestling very seriously. I still think he gets crushed by anyone that has 12 years of legit BJJ. I have no doubt he can roll over the 1-2 years of slack training folks he may roll with in his back yard.
