Jackson's MMA critical over long round at WSoF 2

Saturday at WSoF 2, during Andrei Arlovski vs. Anthony Johnson, the first round appeared to last 8-9 seconds longer than the mandated five minutes. Mixed martial arts is a game that is won from a strike or submission being a fraction of an inch into the right place, and as well seconds matter. In this case, Arlovksi received a damaging blow after the five minute mark, and ended up losing a three round decision.

Arlovski's team, Jackson's MMA, posted a complaint, via Facebook.

The NJ athletic commission was worried about the World Series of Fighting getting a new canvas and new corner pads for the cage they almost canceled the fight Saturday night. Unfortunately they forgot to get a time keeper that was trained properly. 1st round 5min 8 sec in the Andrei fight. A devastating blow was landed after the 5min mark. It's amazing how so much time is spent with over regulating but the simple things can cost dearly.

^ This is a fight, not an NBA game, there are no timeouts unless there's an lowblow or eye poke and that's that. It's 5 minute rounds. To go 8 seconds over is dangerous to fighters' well being.

Their are clock issues in NBA games all the time. But irrelevant to the point that was being made.

Yup it should be ruled a no contest.

Of course Jackson's wouldn't be complaining if it went the other way but you can bet that Rumble's camp would be and rightfully so.

This is a valid complaint compared to some that you see in MMA. Sadly most complains regardless of how valid don't ammount to anything.

This could just as easily happened in the UFC. Athletic commission takes care of this, not the promotion.

That has to be like a damn nightmare. Trying to hold on for the bell, only to get shots like that after it should have gone off. 100% Unfair to AA, and completely unprofessional for WSOF. This should be ruled a No Contest.

even worse was round 3 did not televise the first 7 seconds of the round it started up at 4:53 after commercials completely unacceptable, i guess you get what you pay fori also think the announcers were incorrect to assume andre was saved by the bell, he seemed to recover well and in a league without headkicks many fighters have survived from similar positions
