The question of sex leading up to fight is a topic with no middle ground. Either fighters are firm in their belief that they need to abstain for a certain period of time to build up aggression, and others believe that an active sex life is benificial to training and relaxation. UFC Heavyweight: Pat Barry is of the latter belief:
"You can be frisky the day of the fight," Barry told MMAjunkie.com Radio. "It all depends on, how are you going to handle it?
Unlike Rousey, who said her busy schedule makes relationships difficult, UFC heavyweight Barry has all he can handle. His girlfriend, Rose Namajunas, is a fighter and scheduled to compete next week at Invicta FC 5, two months before he's set to face Shawn Jordan at UFC 161
But really, every week is fight week
"It's frisky 24 hours a day," Barry said
"All these boxer/fighter dudes who say, 'I don't have sex for six weeks because I've got to keep the energy,' – they still whack off twice a day," he added. "That's crazy. You're not going to have sex, but you're going to masturbate. What's the difference? Maybe that worked back in the day, but that's not for everyone."
