TUF 17, episode 11 fights recap

TEAM SONNEN'S Jimmy Quinlan (3-0) VS. TEAM JONES' Josh Samman (9-2)

Round 1 - Referee Steve Mazzagatti in the cage. Jimmy walks quickly forward to engage, and he drives in for a takedown after exchanging a few punches. Josh defends well, but Jimmy elevates him, walks him to the center of the cage and slams him to the floor. Josh struggles from his back to find space. As Jimmy holds strong on top, Josh nearly slips out in a beautiful sweep to back, but he just comes short, and Jimmy reestablishes position. Josh is dangerous from his back, bringing his legs high, but Jimmy rides it out with little trouble. Jon calls for a stand-up, but Steve leaves them on the floor. Josh keeps working and looking for submissions, but Jimmy shucks them off with little trouble. Jimmy isn't scoring much from the top, but he's spending a lot of time there. Josh finally crawls to his feet, and he tags Jimmy on the restart. Crisp punches and big knees see Jimmy topple to the floor, and Josh swarms to finish. Punches from the top, including double hammerfists blast away, and Jimmy taps to the work.

TEAM SONNEN'S URIAH HALL (7-2) VS. TEAM JONES' ROBERT "BUBBA" MCDANIEL (20-6)

Round 1 - Referee Herb Dean in the cage. Bubba walks forward, but he eats a knee to the body and a big right hand. Bubba crashes to the canvas, and he's done. Uriah lands a few more shots before he's pulled off. Bubba is out on the canvas and has no idea what happened.

Was it really broken in 3 places? He's fighting Saturday. Can you heal that fast?

I think Bubba was just happy that he was alive.Nearly the entire left side of his face was broken = NO DIVE.

http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/mma.cfm?go=forum_framed.posts&forum=1&thread=2155935&page=1&pc=38Bubba had his orbital broken in three places. Witness Bob Sapp falling to the ground after Cro-Cop broke his orbital socket in Pride, many thought that was a work. I personally thought when Bubba went wide eyed in the rear naked earlier in the season, he was trying to act out so the ref would stop it without him tapping to protect his ego, but then he realized the ref wouldn't stop it and started panicking and tapping.

I don’t think we’re alone. Plenty of my mates who follow MMA, watch TUF but are not on this forum said the very same thing.I also don’t think Bubba should be given credit for anything let alone entering the cage. He’s a professional fighter who is hugely privileged to get the opportunity of a life time ahead of thousands of others and knew exactly what was required and that is fight whomever to become the winner and earn himself a contract. The fact he acted like a wanker, underestimated his fellow fighters, talked absolute shit and ultimately ended up hugely embarrassing himself was his own undoing…no one else’sTook a dive i.m.o – no doubt whatsoever…..

So far Dana has told us the TUF beast has sent 3 people to the hospital, and made one have a nervous breakdown. All of that has now happened, so it is unlikely he will be KO'ing or causing any nasty damage to Dylan. I would love Uriah vs Josh as the final, mainly cause I know Uriah is in his head and he's been ducking him hard. But I'm pretty sure there will be an upset, so I hope kelvin gets it. Either way the finals are gunna be gud.

I think this is the GOAT TUF season. Anybody else agree with me? All these guys are legit. No "let me bang bro" guys are in the house. BTW TUF Live Dom-Faber had some great fights as well.

I want that fight to Jack and I think Kelvin beats Samman. Definitely hoping that is the outcome.
