White: GSP vs. Hendricks maybe in August

Although much has been talked about as to what's nexts for Georges St-Pierre, UFC President Dana White seems to be leaning towards a welterweight title defense. St-Pierre said ealier in the week he wasn't sure, but today White was adamant it will probabably be Hendricks

White, of course, recently has championed for a Silva vs. St-Pierre bout.

Of course, there's also top welterweight contender Hendricks (15-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC), who's been chomping at the bit for his long-awaited title shot. When asked what would happen if St-Pierre (24-2 MMA, 18-2 UFC) brushes off the Silva matchup and isn't into the Hendricks airing, White suggested he should be.

"He's going to have to get his head into it," White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "That's who he's going to fight.

"If he doesn't want to do a superfight, nobody's going to pressure him to do a superfight. That's up to him. But Johny Hendricks is next – and soon. He's next and soon. Soon, soon. Maybe in August."

Also I don't know of GSP is drawing in new fans, his style definitely isn't one I would promote on free TV to people "checking this this out." Also GSP will gaurantee 800k buys from the fan base. Jones is a perfect choice for Boston.

I like Weidman but it won't go well for him in this fight. He beat Mark Munoz. That was his last fight

GSP vs Hendricks in Boston would be great. But it's a FOX Spots 1 card so they won't risk that.

No, Silva is getting smashed in July. I can't imagine GSP on free TV. The only PPV in August that they could do GSP vs Hendricks is UFC 164 in Milwaukee.

This makes far more sense than GSP headlining FS1.   Why sacrifice your top PPV star (whom the casuals don't even find exciting and is nearing the end of his career) to free TV when you can showcase your marquee star of the future, at less of a cost to PPV revenue.

this sounds like the big PPV fight Dana was talking about for Fox Sports 1. He said they would take a big hit on PPV, which makes sense since he's the top draw. If GSP can get 1 million PPVs, I'd imagine this might be the highest rated network broadcast ever.

GSP vs Hendricks to headline UFC 164 on August 31st in Milwakee. Jones vs Cormier or Machida will headline UFC on FS1 in Boston.

Nice but at end of the day Hendricks would be another # in GSP list.

Aren't Silva and Weidman supposed to fight in August as well?Maybe try to throw them on the same card together. If they both win... Try like hell to get this fight to finally happen.
