Meltzer releases rumored cast of TUF 18

Dave Meltzer has published a list of 17 female fighters that are reportedly have reportedly made the cut for TUF 18, and will fight in the first episode to make it into the house. Meltzer noted that he cannot vouch for the authenticity of the list, but said it came from a good source. He added that he knew five names of fighters who had made it, and all are on the list.

The list numbers 17, and only 16 women are expected to make it. The discrepancy is possibly due to the inclusion of Tara LaRosa, 35, who Meltzer said he had heard did not make the cut due to age, but was never the less on the list.

TUF will also feature 16 male fighters who will also fight in a single elimination event to make it into the house.

The season, which features female coaches Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano, starts filming in a few weeks.

At the end of the day, winning fights in the UFC is the best exposure you can get.Fighting in the house is brutally tough and a gamble. You fight 3 or 4 times in something like 6 weeks. Tara could come into the UFC and win 3 or 4 fights in a row and get a title shot.

Would be a big shame is Sarah Mora doesn't make it in the house. She would make great TV

Why? If I was a fighter, I would want to get on TUF for the exposure. Make some more money from sponsors, appearances etc.

Tara should skip the TUF house and go straight into the UFC

If the military can give age waivers, Tara should get one too- assuming the UFC wants the most qualified there.

My top 8 list for who will be getting in the TUF house: Bayzler Pennington Evinger Modafferi LaRosa Smith Letourneau Morgan (If Larosa is not in because of age, I give the spot to Jessamyn Duke)   Shayna Bayzler is the obvious favorite, she is in the top of the division with tons of experience and awesome submissions.   Raquel Pennington is really tough, she loves to stand and throw punches. She has been in the Invicta cage with some really tough competition. With a 7-1 ammy record, and 6 pro fights, I think her experience will be enough to get her into the house.   Tonya Evinger is also one of the favorites. She is a seasoned fighter with experience against top competition. She has an extensive wrestling background, but would rather stand and throughpunches.   Roxanne Modafferi has tons of experience against the top in the world. She’s never afraid of a challenge. I think she will get passed her 5 fight losing streak and use her submission skills to make her way into the house.   Tara Larosa comes into this competition with a whopping record of 21-3, the best of the girls trying out. Tara may not be the most technical of strikers, but she definitely has some knockout power. Tara and Shayna probably come into the competition with the slickest submissions.   Ashlee Evans-Smith comes in with a big advantage because of her wrestling, having been a 4x college All-American. Having beaten Jessamyn Duke already in ammy competition, and avenging her loss against Tori Adams in her pro debut, I feel Ashlee is only getting better and better and will be one to watch.   Valerie Letourneau has been fighting since 2007, and her only losses are to signed UFC standouts Sarah Kauffman, Alexis Davis, and split decision against undefeated Brazilian standout Claudia Gadelha. I haven’t seen her fights, but I have a feeling this one is really tough.   Peggy Morgan seems like an up and comer to watch out for. I think her height of 6’1” will give her an advantage.
