Joe Lauzon vs. Michael Johnson 8/17 in Boston

MMAWeekly is reporting that Joe Lauzon will be fighting Michael Johnson at the first ever UFC on FOX Sports event, August 17, at the TD Gardens in Boston.

A Boston native, Lauzon is coming off a 'Fight of the Night' performance vs. Jim Miller late in 2012 in which he lost a unanimous decision.

TUF 12 runner up Johnson is 4-4 in the UFC, and is coming off successive losses to Myles Jury and Reza Madadi. He is in all likelihood fighting for his livelihood.

The UFC has not yet announced a main event for the card, but it is believed to have:
Thiago Alves vs. Matt Brown
Conor McGregor vs. TBA

Come on Johnson with the upset of the year. What else would come close?

Yeah, Johnson is tailor made for Joe. Even. If Johnson knocks him down he will get subbed once he follows Joe to the ground to finish.

I hate to root against Lauzon because he's humble, nice and always entertaining. But it's shitty that they're throwing Johnson under the bus to give Lauzon a good chance of ending it in exciting fashion in his hometown. Hopefully Johnson can win or at least avoid getting cut.

Beating Roller, Ferguson, and Castillo is nothing to scoff at.

I obviously like Joe to win but this isn't the mismatch everyone is making it out to be. Johnson's no slouch and was a big prospect at one point after TUF. Great wrestling, good hands.Joe will probably find a way to submit him but Johnson is dangerous.
