Following an 0-3 run in the UFC and a feud with president Dana White, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson began to look for a new home. White had said Jackson "needs to go somewhere where the people make him happy."
The happy place was thought by many to be ONE FC, based on the exchange below.
It's gonna feel good putting this chain back on...Big news coming real soon.
Victor Cui @victoronefc
Looking fwd to seeing u next month!
The three most obvious suitors for a free agent of Rampage's standing are Bellator MMA, ONE FC, and WSoF. WSoF president Ray Sefo said they could not afford him. ONE FC is putting most of it's efforts into the lower weight classes. And Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney has publcicly expressed interest in Rampage.
However, MMA Mania's James Goyder points out that Rampage and ONE FC CEO Victor Cui are both attending a KOTC after party in Manila, so the Twitter exchange had less significance than is being attributed to it - sometimes a party in Manila is just a party in Manila.
A public announcement from Bellator is expected shorlty.
