Silva: Weidman needs to work on his striking, I need to work on my wrestling

UFC middleweight Champion Anderson Silva fights undefeated Chris Weidman at the UFC's annual Fourth of July weekend megashow on July 6, 2013, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan describes Anderson Silva as "the greatest martial artist the world has ever known."

In the latest promo from the UFC, Silva talks about the fight.

"I've been waiting for the fight for a long time," said Silva. "I believe if you train 100%, your results will be 100%. Everything that I do in the fight are the things that i've trained. I will be prepared to fight.

"Weidman has got good jiu-jitsu, and great wrestling. He needs to work with his stand up.

"Wrestling is not my best strength, and I need to work on my wrestling. You have to be able to combine all the martial arts to be successful."

"Every fighter makes mistakes. I just have to look for the right opportunity to capitalize on his mistakes. Everyone has their strong points. Everyone has their weak points…"

Sadly this. A motivated Anderson Silva (which I would assume he is now and not worrying about RJJ) is going to take his belt back and hold it for 8 more title defenses.

Which makes it all the more funny.I can't get enough of these threads. Every single one that gets bumped, I find plenty of posts that are more than crow-worthy.

Now that's a first! The first time in my life that a fighter who got knocked out cold by strikes claiming that the man who knocked him out needs work on his striking. That's rich! Lol. Andy is a great striker but its OBVIOUS that he strikes well enough to knock Silva the fuck out. I don't know whether or not Silva can knock Weidman out. He has a lot of KO's but of who? A lot of dudes who aren't in his league at all.He hit Weidman a few times and it did nothing to him. I think that Andy has met his match. Weidman will defeat him in the rematch.Anderson Silva depends on suckering his opponents into making bad moves and he counters. But if he stands toe to toe with Weidman, he will lose. If he goes to the ground he will lose. What Anderson knows that you people don't , is that if he doesn't psych out or "sucker" Chris, he won't win.Why do you think that he went to his clown act the second that he got up from Chris' takedown?? And he'll do it again. He will showboat and hope that Chris makes a mistake. Why do you think that they trained for the clowning? Andy has met his match. And the ONLY people who are going to fall for his tactics are the fans that bet on him.Weidman in the 2nd round again .

Weidman's striking will only get better. I really hope Chris keep Andy on his back the whole rematch and smashes his face in. Hopefully he fights smart and doesn't get overconfident from the first fight. Serious Silva is going to be sharp on the feet.
