Kennedy talks fight for freedom of speech, and KOing Gracie

In this RevGear interview,

Remarkably outspoken war hero Tim Kennedy talks in this RevGear interview about his UFC debut live on PPV Saturday night vs. Roger Gracie, and about his right to free speech, your right to free speech, and his fight for your rights.

"I say things people don't agree with and it makes people really mad," said Kennedy. "They lash out and attack and say horrible things, or do horrible things. That's the wrong idea. I want people to say things that I totally disagree with, that makes my blood boil, that is so awful, but I want them to have that right. Just like I should be able to say anything I want. That's the reason that I went to war to fight for these rights."

You'll get no argument from me on the indefensible no bid contracts, that said OCO(Overseas Contingency Operations ie the wars, the fed LOVES acronyms) cost less than $200 billion/year at the peak of the wars which still puts total defense spending well below Social Security and Medicare.  I'm willing to bet most people who want to see taxes cut don't want to see the resulting spending cuts focused on the military, while most people who want to see tax increases would prefer to see cuts in military spending at the same time.  A very large chunk of the OCO budget is also directed to nation building and not specifically defense spending.   The US of A will always outspend the rest of the world in defense, it is the federal governments primary obligation to the people and it's an excellent foreign policy tool.   Not sure what freedom of speech and KOing Gracie have in common.

You said you didn't understand why he would go back over there to fight. I responded with why I thought he would go back there to fight and I gave him props for his motive behind it. All the other stuff is irrelevant and I didn't comment on any of it.

Freedom speech is essential... when it's someone saying something on my partisan side of the spectrum.

Nastychase thanks for writing in response to my post, but maybe you should have read all the previous posts before you wrote! I don't think anyone here is giving Kennedy props for wanting to kill all the "bad guys" over in Afghanistan (except for a couple of posters like OP) - educate yourself man! If you're worried about school children over there, do you think that our war is really helping them and keeping them safe? Look into it, maybe you'll change your mind.

I remember a article he posted in twitter about an elementary schools water being poisoned in afghastan and him saying that stuff like that makes him wish he were still over there, he has seen the talibans direct effect in innocent people and he would like to kill the bad guys is my guess. Props to him IMO
