Bendo planning five rounds with Pettis

Benson Henderson's only loss in the last six years came at the hands of Anthony Pettis, and how Henderson will have the chance to avenge that loss at UFC 163. Henderson and Pettis' first fight was a back and forth affair, and Henderson expects a tough fight from Pettis, but plans to dominate all five rounds:

"I won't lie to you; I haven't thought about the rematch a whole lot, to be honest," Henderson said. "Of course you want to erase it, but you've got to understand also that you can't erase things. You've got to man up, get on with your life and move on.

"There are other things that take up your time and your energy, such as winning the UFC title. That was first and foremost on my mind. But in the back of my head, of course, I've always been looking forward to getting into the octagon again with Pettis. He worked his way back up to the title shot. They gave it to him, so let's do it."

Revenge or not, the fight looks on paper to be a potential barnburner. With their first meeting more than two-and-a-half years in the past, both fighters insists they'll bring an entirely different skillset to the table. For Henderson, it all boils down to attitude, and he thinks the results are going to be much different than the first time around.

"I took it like a man," Henderson said. "I lost. It happens. The 18-0 New England Patriots, they lost, but they moved on. They got over it. The '91 Bulls, when they lost, it happens. You have to man up, move on, accept it, take it for what it is. Learn from it, grow better from it, improve from it, and then go out there and do your thing again.

"I'm going to go out there and beat him up. I'm going to dominate him for five rounds."

All that matters is that your life partner Boring Henderson is no longer champ. I will sleep like a baby tonight while you wake up in a cold sweat crying out for angel wings.

Well, you are so knowledgable that you basically just said all those things about Pettis who pretty much said the same things I said. So LOL@ a tenor bashing Pettis. You'd get scootered son.

Based on what has he improved more with the wrestling/grappling/bjj? Nobody outdid or matched him in that dept in the WEC, but maybe Pettis himself. Whereas in the UFC, he's been out-grappled by both Edgar and Melendez. As if he couldn't have always taken down and beaten up Nate Diaz. That doesn't translate to success in the dept against Anthony Pettis. This whole argument that Bendo has improved more is specious. Nobody can point to anything he does differently, like you can with Pettis, i.e.: southpaw stance, liver kicks, side kicks, putting the weight back on the balls of his feet ala Machida to maintain distance, etc. In spite of that, and the fact that Pettis is 3+ years younger, people state it almost as gospel that Bendo has improved more. It's speculative at best. He's just fought more, beaten more respected competition lately, and got a couple favorable judging decisions. Pettis couldn't have beaten his last two opponents worse, and just because you don't see wrestling in those fights, like you know he hasn't evolved in that department the last two years in the gym from 24-26, as fighters usually do at those ages.

Gee whiz, look it's augsphintcer spraying this homoerotic diarrhea once again. The contents of your post reflect far more about what is on your mind than they do of anyone else. The fact that you constantly mention this irrelevant nonsense when no one else ever does is very telling. You are a prime example of why a majority the MMA fanbase are viewed as stupid, low-brow, knuckle draggers. The fact that you can't appreciate his fights shows that you have absoloutly no business at all watching MMA.This forum and the sport in general needs less of people like YOU, not Benson.

We all know this is going to be a competitive fight and that it is going to go all 5 rounds. Since they last fought, they have both improved but Bendo has had more competitive wins and has improved even more especially in the wrestling/grappling/bjj. Pettis's strength is in the stand-up striking which bendo will eliminate by taking him down over and over again. Bendo by UD

It's probably hard to moonwalk during a fight too, but as with a takedown that isn't followed by any sub threats or damaging strikes, I wouldn't want to see moonwalking effect a fight outcome

It's actually very hard to take someone down when you're fighting

I know right! LOL at the TUF Noob Dana puppets defending and liking point without a finish is fun too, but sex with a finsh, no comparison.for all those tards defending the constant decisions and bitching about fans wanting to see a finish, you should be forced to have sex a dozen or more times, but not allowed to finish. then maybe you'll understand the importance of finishing.and before point fighting fans start defending Benson, Edgar, GSP, etc saying LW's dont have power or the comp is too tough, couldnt be the safe point fighting that has anything to do with it.
