Sonnen/Belfort agree to bout at UFC 168

Vitor Belfort has been asking for a title shot or at least a top level opponent since winning his last two fights in dramatic fashion. He recently turned down a bout with Tim Kennedy, but today challenged Chael Sonnen, who was quick to respond:

While Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight contender Vitor Belfort is unwilling to fight Tim Kennedy or anyone else at 185 pounds unless it’s the champion (read explanation here), there is one fight "The Phenom" is down to accept.

And that would be against none other than longtime rival Chael Sonnen.

According to a report from Ariel Helwani on Tuesday’s (July 30, 2013) edition of FUEL TV’s "UFC Tonight," Belfort would "love to fight" Sonnen next, just as long as it’s not a Middleweight bout. Sonnen, who was on hand as one of the hosts of "UFC Tonight," said a fight against Belfort interests him immensely for UFC 168 on Dec. 28, 2013; however, there’s a catch to the situation.

At this point this bout is just two fighters agreeing and has no real teeth as Sonnen still has to get by Mauricio Rua next month in Boston.

I think it looks better as 'Anderson still hasn't won a full minute against Chael in 32 minutes of fighting.'

Hmm.  In another article on the web. Sonnen turned down the fight unless it was a title eliminator.  The article said that White then offered Vitor to fight Evans in Brazil.

I'd pay to see a 3rd (in a non title bout).  in 7 rounds of fighting Chael won 5.  Decisively

So, did Vitor accept the fight with Shael or did he dick tuck again?

This rematch is the only other fight that is RIGHT and acceptable, with Weidman and Anderson tied up.If either Anderson or Weidman are injured prior to their title fight, Vitor shoud be the rightful replacement undoubtedly.

You are not only incorrect about the losing streak, but you're missing the point again. 205 and 185 are two separate divisions. Sonnen lost to the LHW champ, the former MW champ and assuming he loses to Shogun, that would be another LHW. If he's able to defeat Belfort, then it would be fair to rank him as the #1 contender in the 185 division, considering he defeated Stann, Bisping, lost to Silva after beating him 5 of 7 rounds and a win against Belfort = 3-1 against the top guys in his weight class.
