Aldo stops Jung in 4th to retain title

The UFC 163 main event featured a featherweight title fight between Champion Jose Aldo and Challenger Chan  Sung Jung, The Korean Zombie.

It took Jose Aldo Jr. four rounds to find the opening he needed to solve the puzzle of Chan Sung Jung. But when the opportunity presented itself, the UFC featherweight champion pounced in vintage Jose Aldo style.

"The Korean Zombie" blew out his shoulder landing an overhand right in the fourth round of their title fight Saturday at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Sensing the opening, Aldo pounced and swiftly finished Jung off. Referee Herb Dean waved off UFC 163‘s main event at 2:00 of the round.

You keep saying that. Holding a guy against the cage for close to four minutes of a round and getting stood up due to inactivity does not win you a round.

Just rewatched and zombie does not check either kick

Not sure how fight metric or whoever came up w 26 to 7, Aldo still won the round anyhow

Didn't seem like zombie checked the kick at all, did u see the kick? Aldo threw 2 kicks in r1, one that landed on the far leg and the 2nd landed on what looked zombies knee but it looked more like Aldo just misplaced it, it didn't look like zombie had it lined up to check to be honest

I don't really see that. It wasn't some freak event like that. He checked the kick with the intent to have the force of Aldo's kick work against him. Aldo certainly didn't intend for anything like that to happen. Good on him to capitalize, but it was a purely accidental injury. Very different from the Aldo injury. Either way though, even if you can attribute TKZ's injury to Aldo somehow, doesn't really change how he performed up until that point, including checking and causing Aldo's injury with the first leg kick thrown.

It's crazy, the tide definitely seemed to be turning. Aldo outstruck Zombie in 1 and 2, 6 to 3, and 18 - 10... But in round 3, Zombie outstruck Aldo 26 to 7....

With that logic, TKZ's dislocated shoulder should be attributed to Aldo's defense and counter.

If I'm not mistaken, that injury was a direct result of the check Korean Zombie performed. Any performance issues that arose from that injury should be attributed to him anyway.

Yes but have to believe Aldo injuring his foot in r1 had something to do w that

i get that it's a fight and a fighter must do what he can to win, but deliberately kicking the dislocated shoulder of your opponent 3 times before taking him down to grab an underhook on that same injured arm seems just a bit unsportsmanlike to me. not to mention hopping the fence in celebration after the ref pulls you off before bothering to check on jung, who was moaning in agony.would anyone bet that, say, brian stann would do something like that?
