White wants Machida vs. Belfort at UFC 167, at middleweight

Brazili's OGlobo owned Combate is reporting that Vitor Belfort vs. Lyoto Machida is in the works. However, while Combate says the bout is intended for a UFC Brazil card on Nov 9, Ariel Helwani appeared Tuesday on UFC Tonight and related that UFC president Dana White told him he wanted the fight on the UFC's 20th anniversary show on Nov 16 show in Las Vegas, underneath Georges St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks, and at middleweight.

Machida's camp reportedly is willing to fight at 185, 205, of catchweight, but would prefer the fight was in Brazil. Machida had previously avoided middleweight as it was ruled by friend and Blackhouse teammate Anderson Silva. However, with Silva's loss to Weidman, that stance has changed.

Belfort said he only wanted to fight at middleweight if it was for a title, as he has won three in a row by KO at that weight - Yoshihiro Akiyama, Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold. However, Dana White ultimately gets what he wants, mostly, and Machida vs. Belfort at mw is a great fight, with some interesting title implications.

A final potentially contentious issue is Belforts use of a Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). Getting licensed in Nevada with a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) could be problematic, given that Belfort was suspended for nine months and fined $10,000 in 2006 by the Nevada Athletic Commission following a failed test. Brazilian endocrinologist Dr. Rodrigo M. Greco stated he had injected Belfort with testosterone following surgery to repair a torn meniscus. However, the NAC noted that a fighter is responsible for what is in his body.

this is about as false as it gets, there are a lot of Americans that love Brazilian fighters(Machida, Andy, Wandy). Don't kid yourself thinking they don't like Belfort cause he's Brazilian you race baiting piece of shit. They don't like him because he's a trt user. I like Belfort and would love Belfort to get another title shot at 185 no matter who the champion is

Belfort did the UFC a favour by fighting Jones, dont act like that was a fight made by the state of the rankings. The only person to interrupt Belfort in his division of choice is Anderson Silva. Belfort finishes all his winning fights in amazing fashion, and you potbellied bitches still think that isnt good enough? If Belfort was American you would praise him like a god, but because some posters here have a complex about Brazilians, he gets this baseless hate.

I love the fight but what if Machida beats Vitor and Silva wins his rematch with Weidman?

This makes sense. Machida would be a big name to fight Weidman if he gets past vitor. Weidman v machida has the potential to be a great fight too.
