MacDonald vs. Lawler likely to happen next

At the post-fight media scrum UFC President White revealed that he is working on putting together a matchup between two of the UFC rising welterweights:

The Canadian welterweight had been asking the UFC for a second shot at top three fighter Carlos Condit after he lost to him just a few years ago at UFC 115 in a brutal TKO, which accounts for his only professional loss as a fighter.

Condit is awaiting his fight in about 10 days when he takes on Martin Kampmann at UFC Fight Night 27 in Indianapolis, so in the mean time the UFC has opted to move forward with another bout for MacDonald.

MacDonald will now face knockout artist Robbie Lawler in a welterweight showdown later this year, although a date and location have not been named for the newly confirmed bout.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the fight when speaking to reporters after the conclusion of the UFC Fight Night 26 post-fight press conference on Saturday evening.

This fight makes perfect sense. Only reason Rory is top 5 is because mma media sucks at rankings.Ellenberger was Rory's first top 10 win. Rory should be ranked in the top 10, but definitely not top 5. Rankings are SUPPOSED to be based on who you have beaten in that division. Not who you think is the best. Rory is a great fighter on an impressive winning streak but two of those wins were against unranked lightweights and the other two were against guys who are barely top 15. If you honestly think Rory deserves to be ranked in the top 5 based on his accomplishments within the weelterweight division you are high or just plain stupid.Robby Lawler is a top 10 welterweight unquestionably, and on that note this fight makes perfect sense. Stylistically it's a great match up too.

"And MacDonald better be ready because he won't get away with 15 minutes of that jab against Lawler." LOL, yes he will. And I'm not a Rory fan.

UFC Vet and IFL Team World champion Rory Markham and I are sitting here getting ready to go to the gym. We just read this about our longtime MFS teammate/friend Robbie fighting this kid. The power Robbie has in both hands and all the guys we watched Robbie KO at MFS over all the yrs. has our prediction that Robbie wins this fight. He's just "on" right now and whose gonna outwrestle Robbie at 170? He's been preparing for this moment for years and had been wrestling with some of the very, very best wrestlers to ever come out of Iowa. It's "Lawlers TIME!"

Lol I knew I'd catch shit for that one, but it's true. They're both superhumans who simply aren't going to lose because they are so physically and technically superior to their counterparts
