Roy Nelson vs. Urijah Faber, Round 3

Urijah Faber has had four title shots, and although he lost each one, those are the only fights he ever lost.

Thus it did not sit well with Faber when Roy Nelson, who is himselft intent on getting a title shot, complained about the numbers fights for the belt that "The Californai Kid" has received.

"It takes more than being somebody people like to get title shots—you've got to win," said Faber. "I just watched an interview Dana did about big Roy Nelson, and I saw an interview where Roy Nelson mentioned me. He actually said my name wrong, he said 'if I was Ariah Faber I would have a title shot,' and I looked at my record and I looked at his record, and I'm like dude I win my fights to get into title fights. That’s what Dana was saying."

In interview with BloodyElbow's Steph Daniels, Nelson responds.

"He got mad about me saying he gets too many title shots? But I say that to his face, and he's the nicest guy to my face. Whatever he's bitched about is what I say to his face. It's not like it's coming from anywhere else. I say it to his face, that's how I roll. If he wants to fight, we can fight but he might have to get in line.

"I'm not hating on him, I'm just asking him how the f--- does he get like 5 million title shots? I was asking for the blueprint. I'm being genuine when I'm asking, ‘Hey, how do you get all of these title shots? Did you catch someone murdering somebody? What do you have on somebody? Or does your management have something or somebody? Or do I just need to be small? Do I need to be under 5 foot? What's the rule?'

"Uhriah? Ariah? They're all the same. It's iah. The fact he answered to that makes it his name. If I called ‘You Butthead' and you answer to it, then that's your name. If he was in my movie I'd probably call him Uh-riah because that's easier to say. Actually, I'd let him pick his own name so his feelings weren't hurt."

Roy is the most awkwardly UNfunny person I've ever seen. How some of you people think he is funny is a mystery to me. I can't stand him or his schtick. And I aint no huge Uriah fan, so it has nothing to do with that.

Faber loses a title fight then beats the crap out of the number one contender to get back to the title fight.Nelson strings together some wins against non top ten guys and then loses. Then he complains about getting a fight with a legit top ten guy like DC saying that Cormier means nothing to him. Dude needs to just shut up and win, beat top guys and then he will get his shot.

Faber is 29-6, with all of his losses for titles...Nelson's 27-12, and i don't think he's even beaten a top-10 guy in the UFC...i will say Faber gets title shots pretty quick, but for the most part, he's still kicking most people's butts, and if he doesn't, it's because they're the top guy in the division...Roy doesn't do himself any favors by messing with Dana publicly, and with his build, doesn't have the marketability of most athletes... yeah, he's a tough guy who's hung in there with some of the best guys in his weight class, but unless he plans on going to a different weight division to challenge for a title, then his argument is moot.

Since you phrased that as a question, I'll assume it's a question, and tell you what should be obvious...Quality over quantity! One top 3 win is worth 30 top 10 wins (obviously, I'm speaking figuratively).

Absolutely.Uriah got a title shot after beating ONE opponent (Brian Bowles), why shouldn't Brown get a title shot after beating SIX opponents?

Man, I've always been a fan of Roy, but this annoys me. I never understand people complaining about Urijah getting too many title shots. He exciting as hell AND consistently proves that he's the #1 contender. I - and many other fans - would love for Roy to get a title shot. But, he's the one that keeps letting us down every time he's in a title shot eliminator.
