NFL's Arthur Jones: Jon makes more than me and Chandler combined

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones famously has two brothers, Arthur, who is older, and Chandler, who is younger. Both brothers play football in the NFL - Arthur is a defensive lineman for the Baltimore Ravens, while Chandler is a defensive lineman for the New England Patriots.

Both brothers make approximately $2,000,000 per year. It has been widely assumed that with the mature pay structure in the NFL, the football players were making more money than the fighter, but according to Arthur, it is Jones who makes more, more even than both brothers combined.

There's plenty of guaranteed money in Jones deal. The average NFL career is less than 4 years. You're moving the goalpost.

Just imagine what Lebron would do in MMA. 6'8 260 lbs completely shredded, explosive, cardio through the roof, with and 84 and a half wingspan. And he's smart as hell too. To be able to do all the things technically that he can on a basketball court it's safe to assume if he was going to mma classes all his life he'd be unstoppable! And that's just the beginning. In 10 years, it's gonna be some little black kid who's athleticism puts Lebrons to shame.

I'm a bit surprised Jon makes more than his NFL brothers combined. Good for him.

You're partially right, but I thought I'd just point out, it turned out that JJ's scummy manager Maliki was right, and Jones was in fact paid for the Gatorade stint.

What are you basing this $5 million per fight off of ? Dana and Lorenzo were just asked what's the most a UFC fighter was paid for one fight? They said "we paid a guy $5 million once". Assuming Jon takes home $5 million every fight is absurd. He's not. Chandler Jones has a 4 year deal worth over $8 million dollars. He is GUARANTEED to get $7.4 million of that. Jon Jones could get knocked out at anytime and lose his title. There is no guaranteed money in his deal. He gets paid when he fights, he gets paid when he wins, he gets paid when a lot of PPV's are sold, and he gets paid while he's the champion. There are a lot of variables in there that can pull the rug out from underneath Jon and his big paydays at anytime. And for the record, he was not paid for his Gatorade "sponsorship". NFL sponsorships are worth huge money. In a crazy calendar year where Jon is on top of the MMA world, defending the belt 3-4 times a year, yeah he probably does take home more money than they do. But we all know that those things don't last in this sport.

Jones is top tier mma. His brothers aren't house hold names. You should have to compare him to a top tier player in the nfl.
