UFC signs Sergio Pettis


Sergio Pettis, 9-0 Bantamweight phenom and younger brother of UFC lightweight champion Anthony, has signed with the UFC and will tentatively debut at UFC 167: St. Pierre vs. Hendricks.

At 20 years of age and unbeaten in nine fights, Sergio Pettis has signed with the UFC and will make his debut at UFC St vs. Pierre Hendrick, what happens November 16, in Las Vegas, and will celebrate 20 years of the organization. The information was confirmed by the Combate.com Daniel "Big Dog" Wanderley, jiu-jitsu coach of the American fighter:

"Yes he just signed with the UFC," confirmed Wanderley. "He signed on Monday and now will fight Nov. 16."

"He will fight in the 135 lb. division, which is bantamweight. Still do not know who will be the opponent will be, but they are required to confirm soon. The UFC wanted Sergio before, but the Duke (Roufus) was waiting for him to gain a little more experience to be able to fight at the level of the UFC guys - after you enter there is no easy fight."

Daniel Wanderley live in the U.S. for seven years and is a student of Carlson Gracie Pernambuco. He was hired for three months to be the coach of jiu-jitsu Roufusport MMA Academy - Duke Roufus Academy in Milwaukee, where the Pettis brothers train, and was in Sergio's corner on Saturday when the fighter beat James Portervia kimura fpr the NAFC (North American Fighting Championship) title. After the victory, Anthony Pettis was social networks congratulate younger brother and threw a hint of what was to come to Dana White, UFC president:

"Congratulations to my little brother! Great win today! UFC here we come! Dana White, the brothers Pettis will take over!" posted Anthony.

"I loved it! Congratulations!" replied White.

Asked if Sergio is ready for the challenge of following in the footsteps of his older brother in the UFC, coach Daniel said he has no doubt.

"Sergio is a young fighter, but I never miss a class," said coach Wanderley. "He is very disciplined, very fond of training, very dedicated. He is a humble fighter and learns very quickly. He will have a bright future in the UFC!"

Pettis turned 20 in August, and is the youngest fighter on the UFC roster. He will be debuting vs. Vaughn Lee at UFC 167.

You do realise in that fight Serg was clearly letting himself get taken down to work for the sub, first takedown he fell right into rubber guard I believe and was looking for the sweep, and the second one he dropped into a guillotine.. Not making excuses just not like he was struggling to stop them and couldn't.

I hope whoever he is fighting kicks his ass. Of course Uncle Dana will give him favorable matchups to actually have a set of brothers that are well rounded, versatile, and good for the "sport".

Oh great another brother brother UFC fighters.  I think that they may have much more class than the others at least.
