Cormier wants Davis or Little Nog for 205 debut

Daniel Cormier appeared recently on "UFC Tonight" and discussed who his next fight may against at lightheavyweight.

A match up with Alexander Gustafsson appeared to be in the offing, but the UFC has said they hope to match up Gustafsson for a fight in Europe, and Cormier wants his first fight at 205 to be in the USA.

"I have no problem fighting Alexander Gustafsson... not at all," said Cormier, as transcribed by BleacherReport. "The one thing I'm concerned about is being that it is going to be my first time fighting down at 205 and I know Gustafsson is going to be fighting somewhere in Europe. Whether it's Sweden or somewhere else in Europe, I don't want to be making my first weight cut down to 205 overseas.

"I know what I'm going to need and I know I can find saunas here in the United States and all the food I would need in order to make the weight. I know those things are easily accessible for me fighting in the United States of America. I have no problem fighting Gustafsson but I would not want to do it overseas."

"I want to win a title, man. That is the reason I'm going to go down to 205. I thought that was going to be my first fight. That was my intention, but it doesn't seem that way now and the division has moved on."

If Gustafsson is off, "DC" said "settle" for a fight with Phil Davis or Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

"But give me 'Lil Nog' or Davis, that would be a great fight. Any of those guys make for an exciting fight. I want big fights and I want to face a guy who is a contender."

What do you think UG? Who would be a good first fight for Cormier at 205, from Little Nog to Jon Jones, there are a lot of potential fighters.

Daniel Cormier is the best fighter in the world. Current baddest man on the planet, straight goods. The man took out half of the current top ten ranked heavyweights. Just now, while they were top ten ranked heavyweights. Not taking anything away from Cain, but Cormier is a bad motherfucker. It's cool that they're friends and it shows that good teamwork pays off. Him vs Jones would be the greatest fight of all time!!

I think Davis is a much easier fight for DC than Phil Davis

I would much rather see Daniel fight Davis. That sounds like a solid matchup to me. It hardly seems fair to have Gus fight someone as tough as Daniel before he gets his rematch with Jones, who he arguably beat.

Just when 205 was starting to settle and all of the sudden there are a bunch of interesting match ups and fights to make.Jones vs GloverCormier vs DavisLittle Nog vs GustoI wouldn't mind little nog and glover fighting after this, Not to mention Gusto/Cormier, And of course how will Dan handle the weight cut, I think he will do it smart and still perform at a high level. I have a hard time believing Cormier not being able to get Jones to the ground. I think that would be an unreal fight, Jones and cormier are both at the peak of the sport. It almost has superfight qualities. Not a huge fan of either in particular just think it will display some of the best talent there is in the world right now facing off.

If you are referring to when he tried out for the Olympics the second time, you have to remember he was probably cutting to fast.  It seems now that he is doing it a much more better and safer way.  He can gradually lose 19 pounds in four months with no ill effects.
