Robert Drysdale not medically cleared by NSAC to fight in UFC 167

ADCC Worlds and Mundials gold medalist turned undefeated MMA fighter Robert Drysdale had been scheduled to face Cody Donovanin his promotional debut at UFC 167 on Nov 16. However, Drysdale had not been cleared to compete by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, after out-of-competition drug testing revealed an elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) ratio, indicating use of Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs).

Drysdale'a 19.4-1 T/E ratio, is over three times the NSAC's 6-1 limit. Drysdale has not been fined or suspended, nor has he been refused a license. Instead, he has not been medically cleared to compete due to the failed test. MMAJunkie has the story.

Less than a month before his scheduled UFC debut at UFC 163 against Ednaldo Oliveira earlier this year, he submitted paperwork to obtain a therapeutic-use exemption (TUE) to undergo testosterone-replacement therapy (TRT), according to documents MMAjunkie.com obtained through a public records request.

On his application, which is dated July 8, 2013, the 32-year-old Drysdale stated the TUE request was his first. He certified that he hadn't used or was currently using banned substances and had no previous positive tests. Also included in the paperwork was a letter from a Las Vegas-based anti-aging clinic, TrimBody M.D., that stated Drysdale was taking weekly testosterone injections at the clinic to treat hypogonadism.

Despite filing TUE paperwork, Drysdale did not receive an exemption, according to Kizer.

OuchSo he pulled out of UFC 163 for a 'staph infection' and now fails his medicals for UFC 167. Two strikes.Probably just a suspension but I wouldn't be surprised if they cut him outright.

You think you know it all but know nothing. The ratio simply tells you they are taking in non natural test. That is is. Epitest is suppressed just like your natural test when you inject fake stuff. All the ratio is telling us is how much of someone's total test is fake. Does not tell us their total level. Which would be how enhances they are. Someone with a 15:1 ratio could have less total test than someone with a 1:1. Ratios how do they work?

I can, at least for MMA. In MMA we want to see 2 people in a fair, natural fight. To make things fair and not give unnecessary advantages to fighters with more initial money, because PED's are still expensive and unnatural. I want to see the best MMA fighters in the world, not the MMA fighters with the best chemists, connects, or pockets.MMA should be about pushing one's body to its natural limits and utilizing technique and skill to overcome your opponent.

If he applied the day of the test, then his lvls could be that drastic because his body hasn't produced any "endorphins" (I think the name is.) to match his testosterone. I believe that's how Sonnen tried to explain it in the past.
