Soares: Silva can beat Jon Jones

Prior to losing the middleweight title, the big super fight on the table was Anderson Silva versus Jon Jones. Silva however was KOd by Weidman, but will have a rematch with Weidman in December. Long time manager Ed Soares is confident that not only will Silva regain the middleweight title, but would like to see the super fight with Jones:

"I believe Anderson is the best fighter on the planet, period. Any weight class. I believe he has a bigger danger to any fighter he faces than any fighter has towards him. Can he be beat? Of course he can be beat. Anybody can be beat, but you put him against any fighter in any weight class and I think he has a better chance of beating them than they do beating him. I think he'll beat him. I do think Anderson can beat Jon Jones. Not taking anything away from Jon Jones. Incredible athlete, but he doesn't have the experience and I think a well-trained Anderson Silva would beat Jon Jones."

You're underrating silvas takedown defense. Its solid and probably better than Jones' considering gus took him down like 5x.Anderson has great knowledge about perfect distance and timing. Machida showed you can give Jones a hard shot with a bit of timing. I think Anderson has a solid chance. The deciding factor will be how fresh and young and confident JJ looks against a goat of the sport

Not sure what you mean by Anderson having the better skill set over Bones, but this is a nightmare match-up for Silva. Anderson's weakness, as the entire MMA world knows, is wrestling. And all are equally aware that Jon is a beast on the ground. I'm afraid that Jones would hurt Silva badly. Even Silva's amazing striking - which represents his only shot at winning - is greatly diminished against Bones due to Jon's size, and especially his reach, which he is an expert at exploiting. Remember also that Jones has a very good chin, or at least it appears so thus far in his career. Very small chance that Spider could win this.

Apparently, the fact that Gustafsson stuffed his takedowns means that everybody can now (even a guy with suspect TD defense like Silva).

Plus Jones actually has a good chin cause he took flush shots from Machida, Gus, and Rashad who all hit harder than Andy

Anderson could hurt Jones badly or even deliver a KTFO. I'd have Jones 7/10 I think

Actually both Weidman-Anderson and Gus-Jones shattered aura's of invincibility. For my part, Anderson's was hurt more, as he lost (Jones managed to eke out a victory). The thought of anyone thinking Anderson would be the favorite against Cain though (or JDS for that matter) seems so unlikely that I suspect Soares is just doing his job and hyping his fighter, I doubt he believes it himself.

Always thought Jones would annihilate Anderson. But after watching Gus Jones I think differently. However, that fight could be widely contributed to Gus' reach.Let's see how Glover does then come back to this lol.

I can only hope the fight comes off and AS gets a strong backing. Sadly that's just a dream as is Sores assertion.
