GSP happy & well: Baby, father, knee, tap rumors all bull$#!^

Georges St-Pierre @GeorgesStPierre
Johny and I gave you the Fight of the Night- hope you enjoyed it! Forget all the rumors- on vacation, happy & well!!!

UFC 167 featured a tremendous main event between UFC welterweight Georges St-Pierre and still #1 challenger Johny Hendricks. However, the fight itself has been overshadowed to an unfortunate extent by the rumors spinning off it. It was as if the contest sneezed suddenly, but instead of darting out of the way, MMA fans are lunging in without a tissue.

GSP does not have a pregnant paramour, his father is not dying (and stop asking asked the elder St-Pierre s'il vous plaît), his former manager is not in a lawsuit with him any more. Further, it is unseemly to be discussing St-Pierre's personal life, as it is, duh, personal, and GSP said he wanted to keep it that way. Pundits who argue that no one in the public eye can avoid revealing their personal lives don't know what is going on in the personal lives of prominent personalities in the MMA space.

And BTW Hendricks never tapped; anyone who thinks he did is stupid or trolling. Trolling is stupid, so it is unanimous.

Compounding the absurdity, UFC president Dana White was taken to task for pooh-poohing GSP's looming loss of a father, when, after the pair had a heart to heart, White described GSP's alluded-to personal issues as "really not that bad." Whatever is bothering St-Pierre, it is personal, and in all likelihood, really not that bad.

White was further pilloried for saying GSP has a responsibility to fans, to the UFC, and to Johny Hendricks to accept a rematch. White has long said that if any fighter wants to retire, they have his full support. And, alone among any fight promoter ever, he has hastened the retirement of some fighters. What White said in the face of GSP's vague insinuation that he needed a break maybe forever, was simple and eminently defensible.

"You owe it to the fans, you owe it to that belt, you owe to this company, and you owe it to Johny Hendricks to give him that opportunity to fight again," said White, crucially adding "unless you’re going to retire.

"There’s no I’m going to go on a cruise, and I’m going to be gone for two years, and I’m going to take a hiatus. I’m going to take a leave of absence. Whatever the hell it was that he was saying. That’s not how it works."

White was not saying GSP has a duty to fight Hendricks and not retire. He said that as the title holder, GSP has a duty to defend it, and he does. It is in fact his job. Dana would know, as he runs the company.

GSP and Dana White were not alone. When the UFC 167 offical medical suspensions showed Johny Hendricks suspended until 5/17/14 unless cleared by orthopedist for his right knee, speculation abounded that GSP had dealt the Texan a terrible injury.

Hendricks put that to rest with a tweet.

"Three day after the fight and my body is healing very well," tweeted Hendricks. "By the end of the week I will be back to training again."

And here is the anguished GSP Sunday morning:

The time has come to move along, stop talking about all the falsities that spun out of the fight, appreciate how tremendous GSP vs. Hendricks 1 was, and look forward to the rematch.

What he's saying is that Johny Hendricks hurt his feelings, he took this fight very personally, and it bothers him that 99.9% of people gave it to Hendricks.  He wants everyone to agree with him.

Wha???Axis of Evil is a relatively new term (coined by President Bush) for North Korea, Iraq, and Iran.WWII had what was known as the Axis (primarily Germany, Italy, and Japan) and the Allies (primarily Great Britain, United States, and Soviet Union). As such, Stalin and the Soviet Union were on the Americans' side, against Hitler and the other Axis powers.

You're prob right, but.... All 15/15 major media sites that gave it to JH do a play by play analysis of the fight and score it after each round. I'd say BJM, who helped write the rules understands how to score properly and gave it to GSP Yamasaki, who clearly has the best view out of anyone and is licensed to teach judging, also understands how to score a bout and gave it to GSP. Dana may be a bit emotional but the guy has sat cageside for thousands of fights an no doubt understands how it's done. That's quite the majority.

I am certain many fans and fighters as well do this. All the fighters there live, laughing it up with their buddies, chatting, texting, drinking, just like we all do with our buddies at the bar or even at home, if you have no score, you have no score.

on fight night, I had the impression that Hendricks had won.mind you, I HAD NOT SCORED EACH ROUND.I imagine many people outraged with the decision probably did not score each round, but went with their overall impression.
