Ronda Rousey debuts on UFC top 10 P4P list

With former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre vacating his title, and taking a hiatus from fighting for an indetermined period of time, the UFC's top-10 pound for pound list needed to be reorganized. And UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey made an appearance.

1 Jon Jones
2 Jose Aldo
3 Anderson Silva
4 Cain Velasquez
5 Renan Barao
6 Demetrious Johnson
7 Anthony Pettis
8 Chris Weidman
9  Benson Henderson
10 Ronda Rousey

The list is of course entirely theoretical, and thus in the final analysis has as much validity as discussion about how Anderson Silve might fare against Spideman. However, the premise is that if the fighters were of equal size, who would win?

The inclusion of a woman on the list would seem to indicate that a further qualification has been added - if the fighters were the same sex, who would would win?

Or does it?

If sex is taken out of the picture, Rousey is arguably the best fighter in the world, as no one has so dominated the competition. Countering that, some would say that the talent pool Rousey faces is not as deep as say the men's light heavyweight division.

And given footage of Rousey tappinng out formidable fighters like Uriah Hall with ease, maybe she would fare well vs. men.

So what do you think about Ronda Rousey appeared on the P4P list?

I don't get all worked up over this, but if we are going to split hairs shouldn't everyone on a top ten P4P list be better than the top ten list in one's own weight - regardless of gender? top ten at bantam:   Champion : Dominick Cruz 1 Renan Barao (Interim Champion)    2 Urijah Faber    3 Michael McDonald    4 Raphael Assuncao    5 Eddie Wineland    6 Brad Pickett    7 TJ Dillashaw     1 8 Mike Easton     1 9 Takeya Mizugaki     1 10 Scott Jorgensen     3

Are these the UFC's own rankings? If so, I think it's time Dana stopped shitting on boxing's integrity.Blurring gender lines because they think Rousey is going to be a cash cow is just embarrassing, and I can't think of one other serious sport where this type of nonsense would fly.In fact, the only comparison I can draw is with pro wrestling, where Chyna was booked to win the WWF/E Intercontinental title back in 2000.

It all comes down to what P4P means. There is no clear cut definition. If it somehow has come to mean "dominant in his or her present context" I guess Rhonda makes the list. That's not what P4P means in my book, though.

I knew a guy at my college who would train Venus. She was a pretty nice girl. Serena on the other hand came one day and told him to play his hardest. He smoked her and she stormed off pissed.
