UFC 168 results: Rousey defends title, submits Tate in third

The UFC 168 co-main event featured a rematch for the UFC Women's Bantamweight title between champion Ronda Rousey and challenger Miesha Tate.

While the champion’s performance was dominant, her behavior after the fight wasn’t applauded. Rousey refused to shake Tate’s hand in the cage and was loudly booed by the crowd.

A winded Rousey congratulated Tate for her performance, but added, “Once you insult my family, I can’t shake your hand.”

Rousey displayed a more varied skill-set against Tate, who gamely escaped multiple submission attempts. The two went toe-to-toe on several occasions and traded heavy punches.

On the ground, however, the fight was all Rousey’s as Tate struggled to avoid being submitted. The champ frequently tossed her to the mat and maintained dominant position. Late in the second round, the former Strikeforce champ nearly was choked out by a reverse triangle as she attempted to secure a takedown.

Rousey bullied Tate to the cage in the third round before getting the fight to the mat, where she set up an armbar. An exhausted Tate had no choice but to tap at the 0:58 mark of the round.

It was almost as bad as Andy Wang doing his Stand and Wang.

So pissed I missed this. Had a prior engagement w/ co-workers / fuck heads.Sounds like Tate hung in there, holding her own for several rounds; that correct?

The armbar was done correctly and Ronda's hip arched up at the elbow meaning she intended to snap her arm.  She would not let go even after Tate tapped, until the ref broke it up. Ronda was too strong and too skilled and it broke her mentally.  How many slams was she on the receiving end of, bearing the full weight of Ronda?  I just don't know why she was smiling at the start of the 2nd round?  It was a Judo clinic...again. Everyone knew she was going for the armbar and once again it could not be stopped from happening.

Awesome fight from the ladies.   I really wish Ronda didn't slight Meisha afterwards like that tho:(

OMG what a THRILLING fight!!! The throws were spectacularly fast and dynamic. I can see a week's entertainment of reading this thread, all the articles, and analysis. True, Ronda's standup wasn't the best, but I'm glad to see her test it out more. Miesha put up a valiant effort in getting into the 3rd round, but Ronda dominated. (But always a chance for Ronda to be caught.) For me, fight of the night. Yeah a bunch of other TKOs, finishes, Silva's leg breaking was gruesome. Miller's armbar (of the other arm) of the night was pretty amazing. Can't wait to read more about that as well. But still, this fight was my fav. Just SO MUCH FUN!

What the fuck ever you tucking pussies. Diaz just made the headlines for " The best post fight interview" and your bitching about Ronda? If she didn't like or respect her after the first fight why would she after the second fight?
