Rousey's Judo coach shows armbar escape

UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has been more successful with the armbar than any UFC champion has ever been with any single technique. Rousey has ended every fight, amateur and professional, with a single submission - the armbar.

Now one of the men who taught it to her shows how to escape the version she used at UFC 168 to defeat Miesha Tate.

Four-time Olympian , US Olympic coach, and 6th degree black belt in Judo Jimmy Pedro teaches the technique. His uke is two-time Olympian and dual BJJ and Judo black belt Travis Stevens.

at no point in that defense is Travis (blue Gi) in any real danger of strikes. no point whatsoever. in a live situation w/ top pressure being applied, you are passing. an errant hammer fist while defending is not going to break you.that's a solid defense, grappling only or mma.

I wish I knew the backstory... This is a pretty low blow. She must've pissed them off. Aldo I can't help but wonder who took her to poundtown.

I like to see the breakdowns of moves like these after a fight. But they almost never think about someone smashing there heads in with elbows and hammerfist when they are getting some kind of defence going.Maybe grappling wise this is the move, maybe not so when someone is trying to hit or elbow you in to bolivia.Just look at josh barnett going for a takedown and getting elbowed to sleep.

That defense is great but you gotta hit it before Ronda rolls you and tips your arm
