World Series of Fighting (WSoF) matchmaker Ali Abdelaziz appeared on Ariel Helwani's The MMA Hour, and announced an audacious challenge to Bellator MMA.
WSofF is not yet ready for PPV, and Bellator's intial foray suffered a broken spine, but the idea is that a head to head match up between the two could earn money and PPV. And the proposal is that winner takes all.
Tyrone Spong vs. Quinton Jackson
Anthony Johnson vs. Attila Vegh
Andrei Arlovski vs. Vitaly Minakov
Marlon Moraes vs. Eduardo Dantas
Yushin Okami vs. Alexander Shlemenko
Rousimar Palhares vs. Douglas Lima
Justin Gaethje vs. Eddie Alvarez (or Michael Chandler)
Georgi Karakhanyan vs. Daniel Straus
Jon Fitch vs. Rick Hawn
David Branch vs. Brett Cooper
While the idea sounds at first impression like a publicity stunt, there have been co-promotions in MMA, in the US and in Japan. K-1 and DREAM co promoted Dynamite!! events, and Strikeforce and EliteXC have exchanged fighters.
So what do you think UG? Is it a good idea? If so, who is it a good idea for? And would there be any profit to take all of?
