Rebney: UFC's comment about GSP 'tasteless'

Bellator and the UFC are in the midst of a very public war of words, whether it be over fighter's contracts (Eddie Alvarez, Ben Askren), their promotion of events, or even business decisions the other makes. Today in a media call, Bellator President Bjorn Rebney commented on remarks made by Dana White & Lorenzo Fertitta about their former champion, Georges St-Pierre:

Bellator MMA CEO Bjorn Rebney today said the UFC hit a new low this past week when it responded to a series of statements made by former welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre.

“The UFC set the bar pretty high in terms of tasteless comments, but their recent comments about GSP are probably, in my mind, the most tasteless comments they’ve made in sometime,” Rebney said during a teleconference announcing the promotion’s Season 10 light-heavyweight tournament.

GSP would take a hit financially. I don't think Bellator is in the position to compensate him nearly as much as the UFC does. I'm not saying Viacom cannot, just that they are not in the position to. His sponsorship would likely take a hit and the PPV revenue with Bellator is nonexistent at this point. Now I do think GSP cares more about other things other than money. One being respect like you said. I think GSP cares even more about proving he is the best in the world and the respect very much goes hand in hand with that. He knows the majority of his top competition is in the UFC and I don't think he would settle for anything less.

"Ben Askren ?@BenaskrenJust read the article on why Bellator fighters don't fail drug tests. Hard to fail a test when you don't take it. Only been tested once!"

After dumping his own undefeated champion, the guy has no credibility. He's like a politician saying how horrible pedophilia is - oh so so horrible - in response to some pedophile sex case on tv. Like anyone cares what they think or wonders if they'd ever admit anything other than opposition to pedophiles.Dana was rude. Bjork is against being rude. How enlightening. I bet he's against terrorism and murder and rape too. I bet he thinks 9-11 was pretty bad. But I bet he loves the troops.
