Lamas: All champions have to fall

Jose Aldo has looked almost unstoppage since becoming the UFC featherweight champion, but next contender Ricardo Lamas believe it's just a matter of time, and he's hoping he's the one to knock off the champion:

"Ever king's reign has to come to an end," Lamas told Bleacher Report. "All champions have to fall. It's going to happen sooner or later, and I want to be the one to do it. This is a huge opportunity. Not a lot of people know who I am right now, but after this fight a lot of people are going to be talking about me."

Lamas started his UFC career on a four fight win streak and will fight Jose Aldo on February 1st for the UFC Featherweight championship.

It's articles like this that make me think UG blog makes spelling and grammatical errors on purpose.

Aldos takedown defense is sick and hes also a black belt on the ground. I thibk hes a nightmare matchup for grappling based fighters because he can go with them on the ground and destroy them standing. As each td is defended he takes a little wind out of the sails a little bit more each time. Eating punches and low kicks in the interim and its going to be a long night. I predict aldo wins by tko late in the fight like the 3rd or 4th rd.

Lamas is a beast but I think his style is going to make Aldo look really good. Aldo is quick and scrappy in scrambles to get up or away, don't think Lamas will be able to get a hold of him without getting lit up. Hoping for a great fight though. Love watching Aldo and Barao.

Really? He got KOed by Iuri Alcantara in the WEC. I'd say he's looked much more unstoppage in the UFC.

I'd take llamas at 2 to 1 odds. I think he can pull this off.

Age doesn't mean everything when it comes to athletes. In MMA, plenty of guys are past their physical prime by the time they hit 30, such as Big Nog. Then you have guys like Couture. There are a lot of factors beyond age that play a role. Not saying Jose isn't in his prime, just that simply being 27 isn't proof of that.
