Nevada votes unanimously to ban TRT; UFC supports decision

Testosterone replacement therapy has been the biggest hot button topic in mixed martial arts for the past few years, and today a major step has been taken to remove it from the sport:

In a stunning reversal of policy, the Nevada State Athletic Commission today voted unanimously to ban therapeutic-use exemptions for testosterone-replacement therapy.

Moving forward, all fighters who wish to receive permission to undergo hormone replacement will not be allowed to apply for the exemption, and previous applicants will not be allowed another one.

NSAC commissioner Raymond “Skip” Avansino proposed the ban and said the commission does not have the resources to effectively monitor exemptions. NSAC chairman Francisco Aguilar added the commission’s previous exemption process took up too many resources for too little payoff.

Following the announcement from the NSAC, the UFC released a statement supporting their decision:

“The Ultimate Fighting Championship fully supports the decision made today by the Nevada State Athletic Commission regarding the immediate termination of therapeutic use exemptions (TUE) for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). We believe our athletes should compete based on their natural abilities and on an even playing field. We also intend to honor this ruling in international markets where, due to a lack of governing bodies, the UFC oversees regulatory efforts for our live events. We encourage all athletic commissions to adopt this ruling.”

And about time. My guess is that Vitor will shrivel up and turn into one of those singing calafornia rasins

And yet it's not nearly as prevalent in ANY other sport including football where head trauma is INSANE...and somehow fighters who "absolutely must have it" go without for some fights. The fact REALLY is that you're confusing hypogonadism (which is what Chael claimed) or a genetic condition like hemochromatosis versus PED induced "low" testosterone later on in life.FFS, Travis Browne said he has "low" T and he's been destroying people lol.I don't know why this is such a polarizing discussion with so many butthurt fans - not calling you one but I think your initial post was simply out of touch with reality, IMO.If you have diabetes btw then fighting is out of the question and more importantly weight cutting ;-)

he also has multiple accounts and constantly votes people down - this has been addressed before.

Salted Karma is a weak ass little bitch. Yo child, I have a biology bachelors and a masters in nutrition so tell me more about how I don't know what I am saying. The point your bend over buddy was making was retarded so it's ironic for you to call anyone a dumbfuck. I'm glad I struck a nerve though.Lee, people will use any excuse they can grasp up to justify using soy derived T for their past mistakes.

I think most importantly we will not have to listen to countless excuses from trt users as to why they neeeed test and how they didnt mean to piss dirty it was someone else's fault . But on the other side whats next? Vitor popped for 5 hour energy abuse before his fight lol honestly tho vitor wont stop semi-cheatin imo

Exactly. Unless testing beyond fight night gets ramped up it's not necessarily a good thing.

You can still be on trt. The problem arises is do they do testing for synthetic stuff in which cause trt will be a problem. Till then people are fine unless they go over the limit.

There are going to be a lot of deflated chubbies when Vitor looks like a 37 year-old instead of an alien killing machine from the future.

You can still use TRT as long as you are within the "normal" range right ? 1:6 isn't exactly normal , rather way high , and thats what people where abusing.
