Manager: Holm close to UFC deal

Holly Holm is undefeated in professional mixed martial arts and has an extensive combat sports background. Her manager recently met with UFC executives and believe they are moving in the right direction in bringing her to the UFC and towards an eventual showdown with champion Ronda Rousey:

“This is a superfight,” he said. “This is the biggest women’s fight in the history of any type of women’s [combat] sports. It’s a lot of money involved in this payday. I just want to make sure Holly gets her share.”

Fresquez said he met Saturday with UFC executives Lorenzo Fertitta, Dana White and Sean Shelby at Dallas’ American Airlines Center following this past Saturday’s UFC 171. Holm did not attend the meeting, he said, because direct negotiations are relatively young.

Although he described the meeting as “positive,” Fresquez said there are several deal points to hammer out before there is an agreement to bring Holm into the octagon.

“Offers went back and forth,” he said. “We already had guidelines of what we were going to agree on and what we weren’t going to agree on. We’re still a little ways (apart) and there’s still a couple of items. We’re very excited about getting Holly into the UFC. It’s just my job to put Holly in the right hands.”

I want to see her fight Germaine De Randaime more than anyone else under UFC contract.

The other girl is Katie Merrill who pretty much smokes most of the chicks in New England at all the grappling tournaments. She's a decent fighter, but not UFC caliber. She's coming along though

She certainly has a lot of girls with .500 records in her way.

Yeah but who is the other girl? Not saying Holly isn't good but until she starts dropping Tate, McMann, or Davis then we'll talk.

Holly Holm is one of th ebest female boxers in boxing history. Ronda might be able to just walk through WMMA punches to get the clinch but she will NOT just walk through Holly's punches. Look at this fucking combo......What WMMA fighter throws these kind of combo's a bends chicks over from a stomach punch? Not a liver shot, a stomach punch?

According to this article by FoxSports Damon Martin, Holm's highest boxing paydays are $30-$40K and she rejected a career high purse of $250,000:"Holm routinely makes between $30,000 and $40,000 a fight and has been offered $250,000 for a boxing match as well."http://msn.foxsports.com/ufc/story/holly-holm-hasn-t-fought-anybody-manager-is-a-lunatic-claims-dana-white-121313So if Ronda stops her in one round and sells 200,000-400,000 that earn her "millions," what does Ronda's opponent, the B-side get?Not arguing how good Holm is as a boxer. Just asking what her compensation/contract with the UFC should be based on her marketability and other options.

she's very marketable. I watched her fights, and from the hype, I was expecting her to be a female Shane Carwin. The ladies she fought had very little experience. She didn't win in dominant fashion. Late round high kick finishes for an "elite" striker as they say, against ladies who don't know how to defend high kicks. If she was finishing via first round with striking like Ronda does with arm bars, then maybe.I think Ronda's grappling game is much much more elite than her striking game.

"Since she doesn't have one-punch k.o. power, someone like Rousey would defeat her quite handily, IMO. She'd just need to clinch once (which has happened in her past fights)."     Wut
