Im not here saying that Rory won or should have won. My only reason for posting was to state that the most overhyped comment is wrong. So yes Carlos won, I said to rewatch as to see an example of why hes seen as a great fighter in the division because for a second fight in the UFC he did good against a guy who went on to be interim champ and earned a FOTN in the process. Guys can hate on his style, methods and game plans but regardless he is in the mix at the top.

Rory vs Condit Round 1 and Lawler vs Rory Round 2 looked very much the same. Rory on top doing zero damage. but people act like it was some amazing performance, which made the fight seem closer than it really was.

sounds like you need to rewatch the fight, Condit did all the significant damage.

^^^^Even though I put it in my post the first time, you do remember the Condit fight where you say Rory was just a good blanket got FOTN right? Again, rewatch it as it was a good one.

Rory is good. I think in a 3 round fight he is hard pressed to beat Woodley. I think in a 5 round fight Woodley is hard pressed to beat Rory (if Woodley doesn't stop him in the first 2).Rory was pretty much terrible against Lawlor IMHO. Not that he looked bad, he looked fine, just that he fought completely wrong. He could have pressed a little more aggressively and won that fight, but he hung back and tried to be cute and jab and move. Robbie went beast mode and nearly knocked him out. Basically he let Robbie fight HIS fight by sitting back and peppering with jabs.He should have put Maia away. There is no question he could have IMO, but he held back not wanting to over commit. You might call it the "smart" play not to be overly aggressive, and while he did end up battering Maia and winning, the same strategy cost him vs Robbie.

Slobbering over him is not what I did what so ever, I stated many facts about his history coming up and I started with him winning a title in a smaller org going 9-0 to prove he didnt just walk on as a high scholl wrestler with decent hands or something. Beating Guymon wasn't the point I was making but that in his debut he finished a good opponent in the opening round after getting dropped so it showed he had some heart and bjj skills. You need to rewatch the Condit fight it seems. Rory caught lots of his kicks, landed good punches and won the first two rounds so you are wrong in your assesment. I bring up Penn as he held the ww belt and has a huge name and isnt a easy fight for anybody, if by simply out weighing a guy makes you the easy favorite then refer to Brock vs Cain, DC vs Barnett, Koshcheck vs Rumble or tons of other fights. I see you had nothing too negative about the Ellenberger so we agree that it was a good win. Im not sure how you read my Lawler comment but to be clear, Rory and Robbie had a very close fight, Robbie then went on to give Johny his hardest fight. No conveluted mmath just how it went down. Its simply a ridiculous statement to say after 20+ years of UFC that Rory of all the people is the most overhyped guy, did you not watch the Pat Cummims shit? That there is crazy hype.

Joe must be so happy, he has a ton of match ups to make now, 170 is wide open. It is a division stacked with killers.

Yes, Hector has said as much. They train at the same place but don't spar together.

while I can definitely see Woodley slow down by the 3rd, just LOL@Rory finishing him. Maia was damn near dead in the 3rd and Rory couldn't.
