White on the Diaz brothers: This will be a sad story one day

Both Nick and Nate Diaz have had very public disagreements with the UFC in recent history. Both have requested new contracts, more money, or releases from their contract.

UFC President Dana White has stayed mostly quiet on the issues with them, but recently spoke to the media about it after the TUF Nations Finale:

“This is one of those situations that is going to be a sad story in a few years when you look back on it,” White told MMAjunkie. “You’re going to say they were two talented kids that had fans and had interest in fighting and they sat out.

“What people don’t realize when you’re in the moment and your time is now, guys don’t realize until it’s over. You will never make that kind of money again for the rest of your life. You should fight as much as you can possibly fight, get as popular as you can ever get and make as much money as you possibly can.”

You're right, fighter pay is 100% bullshit, but not for the Diaz's it's not. They are paid quite well. $8K + $8K is bullshit. Let me break it down for you.- Nick makes $200K to show each fight. If he'd fight 3X a year, that's $600K. With win bonuses, performance bonuses, and sponsors, he could make $1M per year, right now. That's pretty damn good.- UFC offered him Condit and he possibly could have earned a title shot for that. If not he's at most 2 fights away from a title shot. If he could earn it and win, and he really is this huge draw that you all claim he could be earning high PPV points and making millions per fight as champ. Being only 2 fights away from a title fight at most, he could have the belt in less than 1 year, making millions per fight. - So now he makes $1M per year and could be making millions per fight (say $2.5M) for 2-3 fights a year as champ. So within a year, he could be making $5M- $7.5M a year by 2015. The UFC is giving him every opportunity if he really is as good and as big a draw as you Nick fans claim he is.

Pay them more!  But then most of that cards are shit so don't pay everyone more.  Actually fire a bunch of guys because they make the cards shit.  Then pay the guys that are left over more!  Yeah!  Less MMA because I'm a REAL fan!  Fire more fighters!  Dana shouldn't be rich!

The only sad story is Dana not paying his fighters what they are really worth while driving around bragging his company is worth 3 billion listening to Justin Bieber in his new Ferrari, playing fucking blackjack taking 3 million home a night. I wonder how much he lost on his losing nights. Then complaining about boring fighters and blah blah blah. Pay that man his money and stop fucking screwing MMA fans, fix the gloves, fix the stalling, fix the shit cards, stop expanding all your shit to 50 different channels.

I've never before agreed with Dana White when it was something regarding fighter pay, but there's a first time for everything. Diaz fans who say that Nick Diaz provides ppv buys, please show me these PPV numbers that Zuffa wouldn't be able to live without. After you've provided me with those statistics that don't exist, please provide me with a compelling reason why anyone should believe Nate Diaz will ever win a title. I'm not holding my breath.I love watching Nate fight, but the reality is he's a gate keeper. One who just turned down a fight against the UFC's new up and comer. As for Nick, I used to like watching him fight, but he's won what, one round since 2011? Win a fight, just one. Win one fucking fight, then think about asking for a raise.
