Cerrone: You don't get paid enough? Fight me.

UFC lightweight Donald Cerrone has a blunt response to fighters concerned about compensation.

“I hear guys talking about they don’t get paid enough,” said Cerrone to MMAJunkie. “If you want to just sign on the dotted line, I’ll be your huckleberry. I’m ready to go.”

Saturday night "Cowboy" faced fellow striker Edson Barboza, winning it in the first via RNC, following a knee buckling jab. It earned Cerrone his 14th 'of the Night' performance bonus. What was going through his mind?

“Two golden words - F@$% IT - came in,” said Cerrone. “I had to turn it on, so it was good.”

Cerrone hopes to fight six times in 2014.

“I’m ready for Baltimore next weekend if that’s possible," he said. "Really, just as many fights as I can.”

UFC president is game.

“If this kid could fight 16 times a year, I’d love to have him on every card,” said White. “He’s a show starter. You’re guaranteed Cerrone’s going to get the show started.”

I love watching Cerrone fight, and have met him a few times where he always came across as a genuine guy, but I don't think he has it quite right on this one.If you aren't being paid enough for your work, the solution is not to work more. If you were being paid shit for your job, would you be happy working overtime to pay the bills? No. You want to be paid more from the get go.I'm not saying fighters shouldn't fight more often, and I'm certainly not saying I don't enjoy Cerrone's "I'll fight anyone" mentality. But the solution is to pay the fighters more for each fight, not force them into fighting every couple months to make ends meet.

A veiled jab at the younger Diaz bros?I think Donald is a bit stung from the fact that Diaz and Pettis put a beating on him.In both cases, should Cerrone get some more big wins, love to see both rematches.Cerrone is can't miss TV.

Familiarity breeds contempt. It's sad that Cerrone isn't able to live on the amount of bonuses he's getting. God help him when he's no longer able to fight and he's gotten used to that kind of cash. His attitude is great to see in a fighter though with regards taking on all comers, anytime. You could maybe even say he's the next Chuck Liddel.

What is wrong with Cerrones attitude? It should be embraced not ridiculed. He wants to fight.......isn't that what we as fans, or others in the sport want to see? I give him 100% credit for being where he is and for all he has done. People want to knock the fact that he is happy and wants to fight? Maybe those that have some complaint about his want to fight should look for some other form of entertainment. For me I will embrace Donald Cerrone and fighters like him because they are the true fighters that I want to see.
