Hendo: TRT ban is an 'uneducated' response to PED abuse

MMA legend Dan Henderson was one of several fighters who had been issued a Therapeutic Use Exemption for Testosterone Replacement Therapy. When the Nevada State Athletic Commission moved to ban TRT from the sport, Hendo complied, but he feels the step will not clean up the sport. To do that, he wants to see random, unannounced drug testing.

"Tackle the problems of people abusing, they're going to abuse drugs no matter what," said Hendo on AXSTV's Inside MMA, as transcribed by MMAMania. "And the guys they already tested more than anyone else, they kind of dropPED the hammer on them instead of across the board implementing random drug testing and no advance notice drug testing. I feel like that is the way to handle things, and to really clean up the sport. To do what they did, maybe just being uneducated about it or just don't care."

Very wrong. Some people need TRT In their 20's. It's not entirely known what causes low t unless u were a steroid abuser then that is the reason, but for some 24 years old with low t for some unknown reason happens more than u would think. Research it a bit so u can really know what's it's all about (being srs not sarcastic).

Im okay with using drugs and supplements to make your life better... But not with punching people in the face.Experience is a VERY powerful tool and it is in direct conflict with health/shape and age. There is a short time span where you have them both in synergy which is usually your peak.I think it is part of life to grow old and be past your prime.. Time to move on..

Yeah but if even in hockey I'm sure you have guys taking something but I don't know how much they test plus it's not as popular as other sports about the only time you hear about hockey is if there is a lockout or it's playoffs

"Fact is if you need TRT because you are getting old than you should retire."I don't entirely understand that sentiment. If medical science has a way to safely elevate a certain hormone you're low in to a provably normal, healthy range, what's wrong with that? People are OK with all sorts of other "unnatural" performance-enhancing drugs and supplements that can and are abused, but testosterone is put in an entirely different category. If the fighter receives frequent, reliable blood tests to prove he's not cheating, I don't see the problem.

Ice Hockey players are probably the toughest most conditioned cleanest athletes in the world. 82 games in a regular season vs like 10 in football. These guys get beat up and banged up every night and comeback out for the next game.

For starters, make the testing completely random. That's how a few big names got caught. They weren't prepping for a fight, thought they were in the clear, and got caught.

Dan you used the needle with permission. It helped you, obviously.Don't try and spin this another way.Just win some fights after your TRT and then you will change their minds.Lets not pretend that MMA is even close to a clean sport, this is getting silly.
