Official rankings Update 5.26.14: Dillashaw enters p4p

by Chris Palmquist |

After each event, the UFC polls various members of the media to update its rankings in each weight division as well as the pound for pound rankings.

This past weekend's UFC 173 featured a few meaningful bouts in the rankings and included some big changes in the pound-for-pound rankings:

POUND-FOR-POUND
1     Jon Jones
2     Jose Aldo
3     Cain Velasquez +1
4     Demetrious Johnson +1
5     Chris Weidman +1
6     Anthony Pettis +2
7     Anderson Silva
8     Renan Barao -5
9     Johny Hendricks
10     Ronda Rousey
11     TJ Dillashaw *NR
12     Vitor Belfort -1
13     Benson Henderson -1
14     Alexander Gustafsson -1
15     Gilbert Melendez -1

Renan Barao was undefeated in 35 fights and ranked third in the pound-for-pound rankings, but after a decisive loss to TJ Dillashaw, dropped to eighth place.

Dillashaw, for all his effort, entered the pound-for-pound discussion in the eleventh spot. Several other fights moved accordingly up or down to make room for Dillashaw.

Cormier's big wins at two weights AND THE TWO HEAVIEST AND AGAINST CONTENDERS makes it absurd he is not there. There is an inherent intentional reason for that starting with a D in my opinion who considers not finishing guys like Barnett and Roy like some sort of failure to fight impressively. Vitor's reasons have to be in part for wins in both divisions.

You should look at that gif while asking yourself how someone can be pound for pound better than the person that just kicked their ass for 5 rounds and then ko'd them.

its all subjective and everyone will never agree.we just look at it differently. just so you know though me thinking she is a top 10 p4p fighter in mma does not mean i think she could beat some 135men in the ufc(i dont think she could beat any 135ers or 125ers).i also do not believe she could beat up money may...but thats all irrelevant to how i look at this list.
