Wanderlei Silva refused random drug test

Earlier today news broke that Wanderlei Silva was out of his UFC 175 with Chael Sonnen and Vitor Belfort will replace him. Now more details have surfaced for the reason for changing the bout and things don't look good for Wanderlei Silva.

Wannderlei Silva was pulled from his scheduled UFC 175 grudge match against Chael Sonnen due to a failure to submit an application to fight in the state of Nevada, as well as his refusal to undergo a random drug test, sources told MMAFighting.com.

Silva had "ample time" to submit his application to compete at UFC 175 and elected not to do so, according to Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) Executive Director Robert Bennett.

In addition, according to sources, both Silva and Sonnen were asked to undergo random drug tests while in Nevada last week for UFC 173. Sonnen complied with the request, however when asked to do the same, Silva refused.

NSAC officials declined to comment on matters regarding the random tests.

Although not commenting on the refusal to submit to a drug test, the UFC did release the following statement on the situation:

Due to issues related to Wanderlei Silva’s licensing in the state of Nevada, the UFC was forced to seek a replacement opponent to face Chael Sonnen at UFC 175 on Saturday, July 5 in Las Vegas. Former UFC champion Vitor Belfort has accepted the fight with Sonnen, subject to Belfort receiving a license to compete from the Nevada Athletic Commission.

If Chael loses to Vitor (probably will) then he'll be yapping at Wand again. It's an easy paycheck for him to bounce back with.

Or what's the point of talking smack about a fight with someone when they 1- refuse to sign a fight agreement and 2- run away and refuse to take a random drug test for said fightIf all the hype/smack Sonnen talked couldn't get Wanderlei to sign the fight agreement, train for the fight and get off of illegal substances then what exactly do you think Sonnen could do to piss Wanderlei off just that little bit more that would make him do so?

As expected, Chael has been talking up a Vitor fight and has said very little about the Wanderlei situation.  He's a businessman.  Once Silva was out, there was no money to be made talking any more smack about him.

Certainly wouldn't put it passed him. As Gary Goodridge mentioned in his book, Pride let Wand get aways with anything. Pride was a mma juicing haven. I could see him wanting to beat Sonnen bad enough he'd be against doing random testing, but that's just me.

I like Wand but my guess is he will say he had to leave but had no idea they were looking for him.  There will be conflicting accounts and he will claim it was just a big misunderstanding

Doubtful that he refused outright. We are only hearing half the story. The other half will come from Silva and the truth will be somewhere in the middle.

So was this going to be the new thing? Don't sign a fight contract until everything is out of your system or at normal levels this way in case you get popped you can't get suspended?
