Rankings Update 6.9.14: Benson Henderson regains no.1 contendership

 

After each event, the UFC polls various members of the media to update its Rankings in each weight division as well as the pound for pound rankings. 

This past weekend's Ultimate Fight Night 42 only featured a few fights that had any impact on the division, but of particular note are Benson Henderson's return to the number one contender spot and Bryan Caraway cracking into the top ten in the bantamweight division.

Benson Henderson, who was previously ranked second, defeated Rustam Khabilov by submission in the fourth round and is now considered the number one contender. The loss did not affect Khabilov's place in the rankings.

Bryan Caraway was previously ranked fourteenth in the division and now finds himself tenth. Erik Perez dropped two spots from twelfth to fourteenth.

Cruz hasn't fought in two and half years, and it will be more than three by the time that he's ready to get back in the cage. He doesn't belong anywhere near a top ten ranking.

he should always have been ranked above Gilbert. Benson already beat Melendez, and Gilbert's only win since then was Diego. Benson beat Thompson, and now another top 10 guy.

Cruz should be taken off the rankings. Having him below guys like Caraway is insulting.

I'm happy for him, but, I don't want to see a 3rd fight with Pettis, I think he's Benson's Kryptonite.

I don't think he should be ranked at all until he fights again. Having him on that list is dissengeniuous.
