After some quick back and forth on Twitter, a matchup between Dustin Poirier and Connor McGregor was made for UFC 178. Poirier isn't exactly the biggest McGregor fan and at UFC 178 is looking for to putting a stop to his mouth, and his hype:
“He just runs his mouth a little bit too much,” Poirier added. “He just kind of brings that kind of hatred towards himself. But, at the same time, people want to see him fight. So he’s doing a job of promoting the sport and the featherweight division. But he just got dealt a bad hand this time.”
Confident he’ll be the one to take the wind out of McGregor’s sails, Poirier explained why his will be hand raised at UFC 178.
“I’m the man – period. I’m the best in the division. I’m going to be the champion.”
“He’s just poking at something that doesn’t matter. When it’s all said and done – September 27 – me and Conor McGregor are going to step in. His fans can’t come with him. His coaches and friends can’t come with him. It’s going to be me and him and I’m going to whup his ass.”
