With a record of 3-3 in the UFC, it came as a surprise when Tamdan McCrory was released following his loss at UFC 101. It was first reported that he and Thales Leites, among others, were cut. Reports then came in that Dana White recalled the release of McCrory and Leites; only to retract his previous decision and approve the release.
So what is Tamdan McCrory's next move? For the time being he plans on simply relaxing. Most people would think that Tamdan would be upset with the UFC. But that is not the case as far as he is concerned. What people don't understand is that before his fight with Howard, Tamdan was weighing in at around 200 lbs. He then dropped to 170 lbs right before the fight. The rapid weight loss took a major toll on Tamdan. When asked how he felt before the fight he said "my legs felt like bricks when I walked into the cage."
Rumor had it that McCrory was thinking of moving up to the middleweight division. The "rumor" has now been confirmed by Tamdan as true. At this time, McCrory is a small middleweight (in comparison to the current UFC middleweight roster) but, plans on focusing his training towards gaining size.
Though he is still a "free agent", he does not plan on fighting again this year. Right now,his main goal is to concentrate on teaching at his school,CNY MMA, in Cortland NY. Tamdan hopefully plans to return to the cage next year but, for now has no defiente plans and is enjoying life.
