Palhares v Linhares at UFC 107

Middleweights Rousimar Palhares and Lucio Linhares are expected to meet at UFC 107 on Dec. 12 in Memphis, Tenn.

Palhares (9-2) was originally scheduled to meet Alessio Sakara at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale on Dec. 5 in Las Vegas, but a Monday report from said that native Italian Sakara was forced to withdraw from the fight after encountering visa problems.

Stepping into Sakara's place is M-1 regular Lucio Linhares, who will make his Octagon debut on the southern card. Linhares (13-4) fought last month at "Breakthrough," M-1's first major card stateside, where he submitted Mikhail Zayats in a cool minute. He is currently riding a five-fight win streak.

Palhares can beat Silva in my opinion.Henderson was a much worse matchup for him than Anderson would be.

whoa, body blow by Zuffa signing Linhares. Linhares vs. Toquinho is a high quality groundfight right there.

Great, thanks for the info, North. I'm looking forward to this fight now, it sounds like their styles will clash in a very entertaining way!

He trains with good finnish wrestlers so his wrestling is pretty good. I'd say on the ground his best weapon is GnP which he uses to set up a choke or armbar.

I honestly haven't seen any of Linhares' fights, so how is his takedown defense and is he stronger from top or guard?

Tough fight for both guys. Linhares is a legit BJJ BB with constantly improving striking. Couple fights ago he rocked Sean Salmon badly before choking him out. Linhares is much taller than Toquinho and has better boxing.

Ah. Glad he's recovered, and it'll be great to see him in a fight against a fellow black belt. I love seeing Toquinho work on the ground, his fight with Henderson, for example, was frustrating for me to watch. Thanks for the update, mang.
