Loiseau vindicated of criminal affiliation charge

source: cagepotato.com

David Loiseau contacted CagePotato.com today to inform us that he has been granted his fighter’s license by the The Régie des Alcools, des Courses et des Jeux (Regulators of Alcohol, Racing and Gaming), but says it’s too little too late for him to make it back onto the card for UFC 113 May 8.

Loiseau was slated to fight opposite John Salter at the Montreal show in a week and a half, but was informed by the UFC that he had been replaced by Jason MacDonald yesterday due to his inability to obtain his license stemming from a baseless claim by the RACJ that the Canadian MMA pioneer had ties to organized crime.

According to the 30-year-old Montreal native, several months after he sold off his minority share of his Quebec-based XMMA promotion, following an extensive police investigation, its new owners were allegedly found to have ties to organized crime in the province. Loiseau was questioned by police and was ruled as having no knowledge of the criminal involvement of the individuals he sold his stake in the organization to.

That's too bad that he still misses this event.  I'm still impressed with his philanthropy though.  Would be even better if he could have cashed in on the UFC exposure though.  Maybe they will put him on the next Canadian card.

- MMA BLISS Yeah the Rice family is from Khanawake. The reserve their has always been tough and they have their own gang to Warriors that compete very well with any gang in montreal. they run the entrance and exits to America through the different reserves and are allies with most other gangs (Hells, Rock, West End) and supply guns en masse. The Rice family was a good family and i'm good friends with the younger brothers of the family. the illegal acitivity was limites to the oldest brother and the Father. the used to own Studio the club on the reserve years ago.The indians have so much smokes money they don't even know what to do with it. there are 20 year old millionaires on the reserve. when you have that much money and a good sttrong group then you will have power. and currently they have just that. You would be shocked if you knew how deeply involved in MMA they are. i won't specify but if your from the area you should know what i'm talking about.

"Loiseau was questioned by police and was ruled as to having any knowledge of the criminal involvement of the individuals he sold his stake in the organization to." Sigh...e-"journalism" at it's finest. To quote Tracy Jordan: "You shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition at."

at least a Canadian gets the fight :) and Loiseau is good to go for the future.... just wasnt meant to happen this time. cant see a lawsuit, the QAC didnt deny him a license (just delayed it), and also as far as I know it was Loiseau himself who released the information regarding the investigation....I could be wrong but I believe thats a big deal in proving maliciousness and carelessness of information. Had the Crow not been a last minute replacement himself, things would have been different, would have had the needed few days to sort out any issues.Loiseau is a legend in Canadian MMA, hope to see him back in the big show soon :)

Good stuff, it's good to see all of this sorted out. Now, I know his licensing issues in Quebec wouldn't affect this either way but... Loiseau on the UFC 115 undercard in Vancouver?  Please?

I remember going to an MMA event (one of the first if not the first in the area) in Kahnawake back in the 90's. The sport was banned elsewhere in Canada, but the natives went ahead and put on the event on the reservation anyway. As I recall, the Kahnawake chief of police had colluded with the MTL police to have most of not all of the fighters arrested when they went back to stay at their hotels in the city after the event. As I recall the chief was then arrested by his own people when he returned to Kahnawake for turning against them. lol. I don't recall what the promotion was... so long ago. But anyway, yeah, that place is pretty shady. Still go there to buy my cheap smokes when I'm in town though. :-) Anyways... Hi all. first post here. Love this site.

I'd love to see The Crow sue the RACJ for slander/libel (depending if it was a written statement about him or not) and be awarded the amount of his show purse, as well as any punitive damages arising out of this, since his reputation is directly related to any future earnings of his.
