Randleman vs. Gracie bout in jeopardy

A light heavyweight bout between Kevin Randleman and Roger Gracie scheduled for Strikeforce “Heavy Artillery” on May 15 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo., is in jeopardy, Sherdog.com has learned.

“I’m sick and I think I might have a little bit of a staph infection,” an aggravated Randleman told Sherdog.com on Tuesday. “They might have to replace me.”

Randleman said his physician would tell him on Wednesday if he is healthy enough to fight in 11 days. The former UFC champion, who was hospitalized for a lung infection in 2006 and a staph infection in 2007 that required surgery, said the illness has made it difficult for him to train and eat.

The 38-year-old Pride Fighting Championships veteran trains in four gyms in Las Vegas, he said, but doesn’t blame the facilities for his current state.

KickinAus,Thanks for the shirt and picture of the team. I wasn't able to tell which one those kids was yours though.I wore the shirt under my uniform at work the other night. When I lifted on my lunch hour I took of my uniform shirt and lifted in the t-shirt. The guys were checking it out.Pink Bunkadoo,How is school going? Are you still running?Relevant to the thread.You guys are exactly right when you state showering 6xs a day is too much. With that many showers the flora is completely devastated leaving nothing behind to protect you.I saw one of my competitors on u-tube who had a testimonial from a fighter that stated he used their skin sanitizer before and after he trained. I almost fell over when I saw that. We have worked very hard over the past 5 years trying to educate combat athletes, then our competitor posts that testimonial....counter productive to the entire educational process to say the least.When I discuss skin flora regarding this issue I use the analogy that is is like me going to work and removing my bullet proof vest before I get out of the car. That usually puts it in a understandable light.GuyDefense Soap

I use tea tree oil on any cuts or abrasions. I also use tea tree oil soap. All natural and highly effective.

Showering 6 times a day is a sure way to get staph fast when you do sports like this. Showering straight before practice is also not a good idea unless you've got a really dirty job (especially with antibacterial soap). Your natural defense system will be down and open for attack. Just stay normal clean and treat any small abrasions or cuts in your skin.
