MMA Recap (www.mmarecap.com) has learned that lightweight fan favorite Clay "The Carpenter" Guida (26-11) will take on Rafael Dos Anjos (14-4) at UFC 117 in Oakland, CA. According to multiple sources, bout agreements have not been signed yet, but they have at least been issued to both fighters.
Guida most recently snapped a two-fight losing streak at "UFC on Versus 1" where he defeated Shannon Gugerty by arm triangle in the second round. Guida's back-to-back losses came at the hands of top lightweight contenders Kenny Florian and Diego Sanchez. Guida is now 6-5 within the UFC and has an overall record of 26-11.
Dos Anjos picked up his third straight victory in the UFC at "UFC 112: Invincible" when he defeated Terry Etim by a very slick armbar in the second round earning him his first "Submission of the Night" bonus. Dos Anjos now holds victories over Terry Etim, Kyle Bradley, and Robert Emerson inside the octagon.
The bout is likely to make the televised portion of the broadcast.
UFC 117 takes place on Saturday August 7 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. UFC 117 is rumored to be headlined by Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen for the middleweight title.
