Sanchez vs Thiago at UFC 121 on Oct. 23 in Anaheim, Calif.

A welterweight bout between Diego Sanchez and Paulo Thiago is expected to take place at UFC 121 on October 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Sanchez broke the news to PennyJoMMA.com on Facebook. He also revealed that he has moved back to New Mexico and now trains at Albuquerque Kickboxing & Mixed Martial Arts, which is not affiliated with Greg Jackson.

Sanchez is currently on a two-fight losing streak, suffering losses to B.J. Penn in a UFC lightweight title bout and most recently John Hathaway at UFC 114 in May in what was his return to the 170-pound welterweight division. Prior to the losses, he won four straight bouts, including wins in his first two fights as a lightweight against Joe Stevenson and Clay Guida.

Thiago is coming off an unanimous decision loss to Martin Kampmann at UFC 115 last month. He previously won back-to-back fights over Jacob Volkmann and Mike Swick.

Surprised Sanchez is staying at WW after his last performance. Favoring Thiago in this one.

I really really like this fight, but not for Diego. Thiago obviously has the ground game to stifle Nightmare, and he has the clear advantage in the standup IMO (in terms of power). I see a 1st or 2nd round TKO from Thiago after he clips Diego.

Should be simple enough for Thiago.

Diego is going to lose his 3rd straight fight. Thiago is very well rounded and better than Diego at everything. Also coming off a loss against Kampmann, Thiago will be very fired up. Tough match up for Diego. I'd rather want Diego to go back to lightweight division and fight Kenflo. Other than against BJ, he looked pretty good against both Stevenson and Guida...
