Rodney Wallace asked for Phil Davis.
Instead, he got Stanislav Nedkov. But, even when the fight was made for Wallace to face Nedkov at UFC 117 in Oakland, Aug. 7, Wallace didn't put away the film on Davis. Good thing because Thursday afternoon Wallace confirmed that Nedkov pulled out of the fight, and that the undefeated Davis (6-0, 2-0 in the UFC) had agreed to step in on short notice to fight him.
"It's funny because I felt like the fight with Stanislav was going to fall apart," Wallace said. "I have been looking at tape of Phil for a while, even before we got into the UFC. I was talking to a promoter about fighting him in Pennsylvania when he was looking for a fight up there. I was talking to the promoter, but he wouldn't fight me at that time."
